Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Short answer: OneStream Live’s documented 24/7 YouTube workflow sends prerecorded video through OneStream’s cloud, so the guide does not say your home broadband must upload the broadcast continuously. Your connection is still used to upload or access the video and manage your account. If a local encoder sends the stream from your home connection, estimate usage from its bitrate: at YouTube’s recommended H.264 settings, 1080p30 is about 54 GB per day, or 1,620 GB per 30-day month.
Will OneStream use my broadband data all day?
OneStream’s official 24/7 instructions describe scheduling prerecorded video to YouTube through OneStream. The workflow involves uploading or selecting media, choosing a YouTube channel and scheduling the broadcast. It distinguishes the media transfer and account activity from the service’s ongoing broadcast distribution; the documentation does not say that your home connection continuously uploads the finished live stream for its full duration. See OneStream’s 24/7 help guide and its service overview.
That does not establish an exact OneStream data total for your household. The size of your original video upload, any later media access, your other internet use, and your ISP’s accounting rules affect what appears in your data usage. Do not apply the continuous local-encoder estimates below to a cloud-hosted broadcast automatically.
Check plan availability and duration
OneStream’s help guide says 24/7 streaming is YouTube-only, requires an Enterprise plan, and can be scheduled for up to 30 days. Check the current plan on your account before relying on the feature; these details do not mean it is included on every OneStream plan.

How much data does a 24/7 stream use from a local connection?
If your computer or another local encoder sends the video continuously through Indian broadband, the key input is the stream’s sustained bitrate—not the advertised download speed. The table uses YouTube’s recommended H.264 live bitrates and calculates approximate data for a constant stream. YouTube’s recommendations are platform settings, not a claim about the upload capacity of any Indian ISP.
| YouTube H.264 setting | Recommended bitrate | Approx. per day | Approx. per 30 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| 720p30 | 3 Mbps | 32.4 GB | 972 GB |
| 720p60 | 8 Mbps | 86.4 GB | 2,592 GB |
| 1080p30 | 5 Mbps | 54 GB | 1,620 GB (1.62 TB) |
| 1080p60 | 14 Mbps | 151.2 GB | 4,536 GB (4.536 TB) |
The recommendations come from YouTube Help’s live encoder settings. The data values are arithmetic estimates for an uninterrupted stream at those rates, not measured consumption on a particular broadband plan.

Calculate a different bitrate
For decimal gigabytes, the calculation is:
GB = Mbps × seconds × 1,000,000 ÷ 8 ÷ 1,000,000,000
At 1 Mbps, that is approximately 10.8 GB in 24 hours and 324 GB in 30 days. Multiply those amounts by your configured bitrate. For example, 5 Mbps for 30 days is 10.8 × 5 × 30 = 1,620 GB.

This assumes a constant bitrate and uninterrupted runtime. Actual traffic may vary because of bitrate variation, audio, protocol overhead, retries, other upload activity and how the ISP accounts for data. Treat the result as an estimate rather than a prediction of your bill.
How much upload speed does 1080p live streaming need?
YouTube recommends 5 Mbps for H.264 1080p30 and 14 Mbps for H.264 1080p60. Your available upload capacity must accommodate the stream’s total bitrate reliably. A fast download result does not prove that the upload is sufficient, and a brief speed-test peak does not guarantee stable performance around the clock.

- Check the encoder’s actual resolution, frame rate, codec and configured bitrate.
- At the location and time you will stream, run an upload speed test. YouTube says, “We recommend running a speed test to test your upload bitrate.” See YouTube’s encoder settings guidance.
- Test the stream before going live, then monitor YouTube’s stream health while it runs. YouTube also recommends testing before streaming; see YouTube’s streaming tips.
- Compare the expected monthly usage with your specific ISP plan’s data allowance, fair-use threshold and any consequences after that threshold.
What determines the actual monthly total in India?
There is no single data figure or broadband-plan recommendation that applies to every Indian household. Your answer depends on the setup and contract details:
- Stream path: prerecorded video scheduled through OneStream’s cloud, or a local encoder continuously sending video from home.
- Stream settings: resolution, frame rate, codec and actual bitrate.
- Connection: sustained upload capacity and stability, not just advertised download speed.
- ISP terms: the plan’s included data, fair-use policy and any speed or service changes after a threshold.
- Runtime: the number of hours or days live, including restarts and re-uploads.
To check a household’s likely exposure, first identify whether the broadcast itself traverses your home connection. For a local stream, multiply the configured bitrate by its planned runtime using the formula above, then check that estimate against your ISP’s current terms. For OneStream’s cloud workflow, account separately for the source media upload and other household use; the available documentation does not give a universal household-data figure for it.
