Why the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 matters
The Ryzen AI Max+ 395 is far more substantial than the processors normally found in thin tablets. AMD lists 16 Zen 5 CPU cores, 32 threads, up to 5.1GHz boost, 64MB of L3 cache, and 16MB of L2 cache. Its default TDP is 55W, while the platform supports a configurable range from 45W to 120W. AMD’s official specifications describe the processor itself; they do not prove that the Super X will sustain 120W.
Graphics are handled by the integrated Radeon 8060S, which has 40 compute units based on AMD’s RDNA 3.5 architecture. This is an unusually large integrated GPU. It also shares fast unified memory with the CPU instead of relying on a small, fixed graphics-memory allocation.
AMD lists support for up to 128GB of LPDDR5x-8000 memory through a 256-bit interface, with bandwidth of up to 256GB/s in relevant Ryzen AI Max systems. Some system memory can be assigned to graphics through AMD Variable Graphics Memory. That can help the GPU and certain creative or AI workloads, but it also reduces the memory available to Windows and ordinary applications.

The available announcement coverage does not provide independent frame rates, temperatures, sustained clocks, fan-noise measurements, or battery tests. The hardware is promising; the product’s real performance remains unmeasured here.
What the 120W power claim really means
The 120W figure is easy to misread. AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 395 can be configured within a 45–120W processor range, while the Super X announcement described a 120W power design or adapter. Those are not necessarily the same thing.
Total system consumption also includes the OLED display, memory, SSD, cooling fans, USB devices, charging overhead, and conversion losses. A 120W adapter therefore does not automatically mean the CPU and GPU receive a sustained 120W package-power limit. Performance may also be substantially lower on battery than when plugged in.
Rank #2
- Desktop-Grade Power On the Go: Experience flagship performance with the AMD Ryzen AI Max processor and Radeon 8060S graphics, rivaling a desktop RTX 4060 for smooth AAA gaming and creative work.
- Unmatched Local AI Performance: With 126 TOPS of AI processing power and a revolutionary unified memory architecture, run large local AI models like 70B-parameter LLMs privately and without cloud dependency.
- Immersive Creative Canvas: A stunning 14-inch 2.8K AMOLED display with 120Hz VRR, 100% DCI-P3 color, and HDR brings games and content to life. Includes 4096-level pen support for natural drawing and note-taking.
- Sustained Performance, Zero Compromise: An advanced dual-fan cooling system with pure copper fins and a vapor chamber ensures stable high-TDP performance during intense gaming or AI workloads, keeping thermals in check without disruptive noise.
- All-in-One Versatility & Smart Control: Seamlessly transform between tablet, laptop, and console modes with the magnetic keyboard and built-in kickstand. The intuitive OneXConsole software gives you full control over performance, settings, and your game library.
A thin 12.5mm tablet has less room for cooling than a conventional gaming laptop. The likely trade-offs are heat, fan noise, reduced battery life at high power, and performance that varies by power mode. OneXPlayer will need to publish sustained-power behavior and thermal testing before the Super X can be judged against full-size gaming systems.

The OLED gaming-tablet design
The Super X is reported to use an approximately 14-inch AMOLED/OLED display with a landscape orientation, HDR, variable refresh rate, stylus support, and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. One announcement source lists a resolution of 2,880 × 1,920, while another summary reports 2,880 × 1,800. Those figures should not be treated as interchangeable; the final retail specification needs confirmation.
A high-resolution OLED could be excellent for games, video, and creative work, but native resolution will be demanding for integrated graphics. Many games may need a lower internal resolution, upscaling, or reduced settings to achieve useful frame rates. Windows scaling may also be necessary to make desktop text comfortable at 14 inches.
Refresh rate, brightness, HDR certification, VRR range, touch and pen protocol, glossy-surface behavior, and OLED burn-in coverage are still important unanswered questions. Static Windows taskbars and productivity interfaces make the manufacturer’s burn-in policy particularly relevant.
Gaming tablet, laptop, or workstation?
The Super X could serve all three roles, but none without compromises.
- Gaming tablet: The large OLED panel, touch input, kickstand, and powerful integrated graphics fit gaming and media use.
- Laptop substitute: The detachable keyboard and full Windows software support desktop applications, although a tablet with a kickstand is usually less comfortable on a lap than a clamshell laptop.
- Creator or workstation PC: Sixteen CPU cores, a large memory ceiling, and a sizeable integrated GPU could suit video work, development, and other demanding tasks.
There is no discrete GPU, and high-power gaming may bring fan noise and short unplugged runtimes. The Super X is therefore a flexible all-in-one PC rather than a guaranteed replacement for every gaming laptop or workstation.

What Ryzen AI adds
The processor includes an XDNA 2 NPU rated for up to 50 TOPS. That can accelerate supported AI effects and applications efficiently, including some Copilot+ PC-style workloads, but an NPU rating does not automatically establish Microsoft certification for the specific Super X or guarantee that every AI program will use it.
The CPU remains important for general software, while the GPU is often more relevant to local image generation, model inference, video effects, and gaming. The potential 128GB unified-memory configuration could make the platform interesting for local-AI experimentation, but it does not guarantee compatibility, model size, or token-generation speed. Those depend on software support, memory allocation, drivers, and power limits.
What is still unconfirmed?
Before considering an order, buyers should look for final information on:
- Price, release date, and regional availability.
- Exact memory and storage configurations.
- Whether memory is soldered and whether the SSD is replaceable.
- Battery capacity and real-world runtime.
- Weight, port selection, wireless standard, webcam, and microphones.
- Cooling design and sustained CPU/GPU power.
- Display refresh rate, brightness, final resolution, and burn-in policy.
- Whether the keyboard, stylus, and charger are included.
- Warranty, returns, delivery terms, and regional support.
- Independent gaming, creator, thermal, acoustic, and battery testing.
How it compares with alternatives
ASUS ROG Flow Z13
The ASUS ROG Flow Z13 is the most direct category comparison: a high-performance Windows gaming tablet with a kickstand and detachable keyboard. It is the benchmark for portability, ergonomics, display quality, cooling, ports, support, and retail availability. The Super X’s larger integrated GPU and memory ceiling could be compelling, but no conclusion about superiority should be made without testing at comparable power levels.
Conventional gaming laptop
A similarly priced gaming laptop may provide a discrete GPU, stronger sustained graphics performance, larger cooling hardware, and easier upgrades. The Super X’s advantages are tablet flexibility, touch input, and a potentially more convenient all-in-one design—not guaranteed raw gaming performance.
AMD Ryzen AI Max mini PC
For stationary local-AI or creator work, a Ryzen AI Max mini PC paired with an OLED monitor may offer better cooling, more ports, and easier storage access. It is not a true portable replacement because it requires a separate display, keyboard, and power setup.

Buyers who need long battery life, predictable retail support, easy upgrades, or the best sustained discrete-GPU gaming performance should wait for final specifications and testing or choose an available gaming laptop or established tablet alternative. The total cost should include the keyboard, stylus, charger, dock, storage, and warranty—not just the tablet itself.
Most importantly, do not buy based only on the 120W figure, the “desktop-class” label, or the RTX 4060 Ti comparison. Confirm the sustained power limit, battery size, final display, included accessories, shipping terms, and independent benchmarks first.
Current verdict
The OneXPlayer Super X has a genuinely ambitious foundation. Ryzen AI Max+ 395 combines a 16-core Zen 5 CPU with a 40-compute-unit Radeon 8060S GPU, fast unified memory, and a 50-TOPS NPU—far beyond ordinary tablet hardware. Its OLED display, kickstand, and detachable keyboard make the form factor unusually versatile.
But the announcement establishes potential, not proven product performance. With pricing, availability, final configurations, battery information, display details, and independent testing still unresolved in the available materials, the Super X is a product to monitor rather than a confirmed purchase recommendation.
