Yes—with an important distinction: a May 6, 2025 report said Skyz had been benched and Mercules would replace him in OpTic Texas’s starting lineup, but its reproduced wording framed the move as a claim, not an official announcement. Later coverage said Mercules joined for the rest of the season and Skyz moved to the bench. OpTic’s roster page, checked October 8, 2026, lists Mercules among its players.
What the May 6 report actually said
An Insider Gaming Forums page dated May 6, 2025, identifies Grant Taylor-Hill and reproduces the report’s opening: “It has been claimed that OpTic Texas has benched Skyz and will be replacing him in the starting lineup with Mercules.” That wording presents the roster move as a claim. The accessible reproduction does not provide the full original article or identify the source behind the claim.
So, the careful answer to “Who replaced Skyz?” is Mercules, according to the report—not a transaction detail established by that reproduced opening alone. The page’s headline also says OpTic “could be” picking up Mercules, preserving the uncertainty of the report.
What later coverage added
Breaking Point’s May 20, 2025 profile said Mercules joined OpTic Texas for the remainder of the season and Skyz moved to the bench. It also reported that Mercules recorded 474 kills and a 1.08 K/D at Major 3. Those performance figures are Breaking Point’s reported statistics; they have not been independently verified against a league statistics page here.

What official records confirm—and what they do not
OpTic’s roster snapshot
OpTic’s official team page, checked October 8, 2026, lists Huke, Shotzzy, Dashy, and Mercules. It identifies Mercules as an AR. This is the roster shown on that access date, not evidence that the same lineup remained unchanged throughout the period since 2025. OpTic Texas official team page
League activity after the report
The Call of Duty League’s official record shows OpTic Texas played Boston Breach on May 9, 2025, and Boston won 3–2. That confirms a subsequent match, but the match record does not itself announce or prove the roster transaction. Call of Duty League match record
