OpTic Texas secured the No. 1 seed for the 2025 Call of Duty League Major I in Madrid by beating Toronto Ultra 3–1 in the final Sunday qualifier. Both teams finished qualifying 6–1, but OpTic’s plus-10 map differential put it ahead of Toronto’s plus-8 in the reported standings.
How OpTic beat Toronto Ultra
OpTic took the first two maps, Toronto answered on Control, and OpTic closed out the series on Hardpoint, according to Field Level Media’s Jan. 26, 2025 match report.
| Map | Mode | Result | Winner |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vault | Hardpoint | 250–184 | OpTic Texas |
| Red Card | Search and Destroy | 6–4 | OpTic Texas |
| Vault | Control | 1–3 | Toronto Ultra |
| Protocol | Hardpoint | 250–156 | OpTic Texas |
Why OpTic took the top seed
The teams were tied on match record: each ended the qualifying stage 6–1. The standings reported by Field Level Media separated them by map differential: OpTic was listed at +10 and Toronto at +8. That difference placed OpTic first and Toronto second.
What the seed meant in Madrid
The first Major of the 2025 CDL season was scheduled for Jan. 30 through Feb. 2 in Madrid, Spain, as noted by Insider Gaming’s Jan. 27 event report and Esports Insider’s Jan. 30 guide. The reported bracket format put the top eight seeds in the winners’ bracket, while seeds 9–12 began in the elimination bracket.
