Jynxzi’s purchased level-30 League of Legends account was banned, according to a report by Dot Esports. The outlet also reports that Riot’s creator team offered him a separate creator account so he could keep playing. Riot’s published rules explain why buying accounts can trigger enforcement—but the report does not establish the ban’s length or that the purchased account was restored.
What happened to Jynxzi’s League account?
Dot Esports reported on August 4, 2026, that Jynxzi was banned after buying a level-30 account to skip the new-player onboarding process. The outlet quoted his on-stream explanation: “I bought my account because I didn’t want to play against bots for 30 hours.” It also reported his response to the ban: “I understand the ban, bro. I just want to be iron.”
According to the same report, Riot’s creator team offered him a separate creator account. That does not mean the purchased account was reinstated, and Dot Esports did not state how long the ban lasts. Nor does its report establish that the offered account is the same kind of practice account described in Riot’s general policy.
Why does Riot ban bought or botted accounts?
Riot’s account policy FAQ says buying and selling accounts violates its Terms of Service. It describes purchased or botted accounts as accounts “not leveled and used by a single player,” and says Riot may ban them. A buyer can therefore lose access to the account even if the reason for buying it was to skip early matches.

Riot has also warned against sharing accounts. An account that is leveled or used by multiple people can fall within the same enforcement concern, even if the player did not buy it from a marketplace.
Does using a bought account automatically get your main banned?
No. Riot’s FAQ says a legitimate account is not automatically penalized solely because its owner used a purchased or botted account a few times. But it warns that frequent use raises the chance of a penalty. Riot also describes limited leniency for some older purchased accounts that became a player’s main and have remained in good standing; repeatedly using several bought or shared accounts can lead to bans.

Riot says it may link penalties across accounts only when it is highly confident that they share an owner. In its October 6, 2025 update, Riot said it used Vanguard-supported hardware and behavioral signals to identify accounts that had been botted and later sold or shared. It said its review considered how players used those accounts, how many accounts they had, and their transgression histories before finalizing bans.
What did Riot’s botting crackdown cover?
Riot’s published enforcement figures are historical totals from its October 6, 2025 update, not verified counts for the time of Jynxzi’s reported ban:

| Riot-reported figure | What it counted |
|---|---|
| 400,000 | Accounts used in Ranked, as reported by Riot in 2025. |
| 1.5 million | Accounts that had been botted and sold, as reported by Riot in 2025. |
| 2.5 million | Accounts waiting to be sold, as reported by Riot in 2025. |
Riot described those numbers as accurate “at the time of writing.” They are Riot’s own reported figures, not independently audited industry totals. In that update, Riot’s Phroxzon wrote: “With that in mind, this is the final warning to not buy, share, or sell accounts because, as of patch 25.18, we will be finding and banning all instances of this going forward.” Riot said patch 25.18 enforcement began September 9, 2025. Its October update said penalty linking was planned from patch 25.23; the later FAQ specifies November 19, 2025 for penalty linking.
Are boosting, hitchhiking and alternate accounts treated the same way?
Riot’s August 2025 update distinguishes account buying from other Ranked misconduct:

- OPTICAL MOUSE SWITCHES GEN 2 — With zero unintended misclicks these switches provide crisp, responsive execution at a blistering 0.2ms actuation speed for up to 70 million clicks
- Boosting: playing Ranked on another person’s account to raise that account’s MMR.
- Hitchhiking: queuing with someone to be carried to a higher division.
- Self-created alternate account: an account the player personally creates and levels. Riot says it can be used, provided the player does not deliberately derank it.
Riot’s FAQ lists a three-day ban for a first boosting or hitchhiking offense, a 14-day ban for a second, and a permanent ban for a third. That schedule concerns those specified offenses; it should not be treated as the penalty in Jynxzi’s case, because the report does not establish his charge or sanction.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does being a streamer give someone an exception?
Riot’s FAQ says it does not make penalty exceptions for streamers or professional players who smurf or manipulate Ranked. It also says it can provide practice accounts with a player’s main-account MMR for defined needs, such as playing in another region for content or preparing for an international tournament. That general option is distinct from Dot Esports’ report that Riot’s creator team offered Jynxzi a creator account; the report does not identify it as a policy practice account.

Riot separately said in a November 2024 creator update that promoting account buying or selling—including sponsorships or casual promotion—may lead to penalties against a creator’s Riot accounts. That rule concerns promotion; it is not evidence that Jynxzi’s reported purchase was treated as promotional conduct.
