The Steam listing highlights physics-based interactions, so trap placement and combat are intended to work together rather than as separate phases. Steam’s game listing and the official game page also describe the series’ humor, orc chatter, ragdoll action, and guitar- and drum-heavy soundtrack.
That combination makes the game’s central question less “Which trap is strongest?” than how to divide attention between defending lanes and joining the fight. The source descriptions establish that these systems are present, but do not show how well combat, trap planning, or enemy balance work in practice.
How do runs and upgrades work?
Runs change through randomized buffs and debuffs that can affect heroes, traps, weapons, stats, and levels. Weather and time of day also influence enemies and defensive options, according to the Steam description. As waves get stronger, players decide whether to continue under the accumulating conditions or return to the castle hub to upgrade before taking on a boss.

This gives the game a roguelite progression structure: conditions and choices change from run to run, while upgrades between pushes shape preparation for later encounters. Can you play solo or in co-op?
Yes. Steam lists single-player and online co-op, with teams of up to four players. The store description says each option has “unique challenges and rewards.” The available details do not specify how solo difficulty compares with a coordinated group, so that balance is not established here.

Can I play with someone on a different platform?
Yes. Robot Entertainment lists crossplay across Steam, Epic Games, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox App on PC. To enable it, use Main Menu > Settings > Gameplay. The platform list and setting path come from Robot Entertainment’s cross-platform support instructions.
Can I play Local or Couch Co-op?
No. Robot Entertainment confirms that Deathtrap has no local or couch co-op. Same-room groups will need separate supported systems and an online connection to play together. Robot Entertainment’s local co-op support answer gives the official clarification.

Which platforms is it available on?
Steam lists the game’s release date as January 28, 2025, and names Robot Entertainment as both developer and publisher. A later company announcement says the original release was on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox Series X|S, followed by a digital PS5 release on July 29, 2025. These platform dates are from Steam and 5th Planet Games’ May 2025 announcement.
What do the Steam user ratings show?
In an October 8, 2026 snapshot, Steam showed 73% positive from 2,390 English-language reviews overall, labeled “Mostly Positive.” For the previous 30 days, it showed 55% positive from 45 reviews, labeled “Mixed.” These are Steam user-review figures, not critic-review aggregate scores; both counts and percentages can change.
