The bundle itself ended on June 16, 2020, but people who bought it can still check their itch.io libraries for the downloads.
What was the Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality?
itch.io’s 2020 fundraiser brought together a broad collection of digital work from independent creators. Its official listing counted 1,741 items from 1,391 creators and reported $8,149,814.66 raised by 814,526 contributors. Those are figures from itch.io’s 2020 listing, not current totals. The fundraiser’s stated $5 minimum donation and $5 million goal were part of that historical campaign.

itch.io said proceeds would be split evenly between the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and Community Bail Fund. The listing described direct downloads only: bundle purchases did not include Steam or other external keys. The original bundle ended June 16, 2020, so it is no longer available to buy. Which games should you look for?
Engadget’s July 3, 2020 guide presented editor favorites, not a scored ranking. These picks are easier to choose among by the kind of play you want: open-ended exploration, a focused mechanical challenge, or a story-led experience. Read the original Engadget guide.
#1 Best Overall
For low-pressure exploration
- A Short Hike: Devindra Hardawar’s pick follows a bird climbing a trail, finding golden feathers and improving abilities such as gliding and climbing. Its friendly characters and stamina system support unhurried exploration without combat pressure.
- Wide Ocean, Big Jacket: Kris Naudus recommends this short, low-interaction camping story for its character writing and conversations. It follows a couple, their niece and her boyfriend; the appeal is the people, not action systems.
For playful or unusual challenges
- The Floor is Jelly: Igor Bonifacic highlights a platformer where floors, walls and ceilings bounce. Its levels build on momentum and obstacle navigation, offering a gentler control challenge than games such as Celeste or Super Meat Boy.
- Don’t Move: Scott Copeland describes an achievement-driven oddity built around three immediate options: move left, move right or stand still. Repeated attempts unlock goals and stats, making it a deliberately repetitive challenge.
- An Airport Game: In Scott Copeland’s short RPG pick, you have one in-game hour to reach boarding. Interactions advance the clock, and decisions about speed, safety and kindness toward airport workers shape the experience.
For reflective or emotionally weighty stories
- Far From Noise: Nick Summers describes a choice-light visual novel about a person stranded in a car near a cliff and a talking deer. Their conversations touch on nature, death and loneliness; the ending is deliberately ambiguous.
- A New Life: Kris Naudus recommends Angela He’s visual novel about two women building a life together amid tragedy and a fictional pandemic. Its emotional tone is central: the story is not simply whimsical.
- Milkmaid of the Milky Way: This short point-and-click adventure pairs pixel-art environments with rhyming dialogue. A farm-dwelling milkmaid is drawn into an alien story.
For a frantic first-person task
- Night of the Consumers: Ian Levenstein’s pick has you stocking shelves while dealing with impatient customers. The guide warns that the first-person perspective and frantic pace may bother people susceptible to dizziness, and notes difficulty remapping gamepad buttons.
How to access the games if you bought the bundle
If you purchased the bundle in 2020, Engadget’s guidance is to look in your itch.io account rather than expect a Steam key. Open My Library → My Purchases → Bundles, then search for a game if its individual page does not show a download link. Selecting Download adds an item to your library even when you do not immediately download the file.
The bundle’s historical access terms do not establish whether any featured game is currently sold individually, which platforms offer it, or what terms apply today. Check the game’s current itch.io page or creator listing before relying on present-day availability.
