Starting with Season 19, Tier 1 of a Mythic Hero skin unlocks its complete core design—not every customization. Later tiers still add options such as alternate components, colorways, and ambient effects. Blizzard announced the change on October 9, 2025.
What “full unlock at Tier 1” means
Blizzard’s Season 19 announcement says, “At Tier 1, you’ll unlock the complete Mythic skin design.” In practice, the Hero has the complete core Mythic look at that tier; it no longer needs to evolve through later tiers to reach its final design.

Tier 1 does not unlock every appearance option. Blizzard says, “From there, each tier unlocks new ways to personalize your look with alternate components, colorways, and ambient FX toggles.” Those later tiers provide additional customization for players who want to adjust the skin.
Blizzard used Divine Druid Lifeweaver to illustrate the change: the skin has its final Mythic form from the start, with further tiers adding ways to personalize it. Blizzard’s Season 19 announcement describes the revised approach.

Old progression versus the Season 19 approach
| Progression stage | Earlier evolutionary approach | Season 19 approach |
|---|---|---|

| Later tiers | Progression advanced the skin’s evolution. | Progression unlocks customization such as alternate components, colorways, and ambient FX toggles. |

Season 19’s Mythic releases: Hero skins and a weapon skin
Blizzard announced two Mythic Hero skins per season beginning with Season 19: Divine Druid Lifeweaver at launch and Cyber Fuel Junkrat at midcycle. The same announcement also featured Spirit Keeper Kiriko, a Mythic weapon skin. That weapon cosmetic is separate from the two Mythic Hero skins.

Unlocking a Mythic is a separate question
The Tier 1 change concerns what the Mythic Hero skin looks like once unlocked; it does not, by itself, explain how to obtain the skin. Blizzard’s Season 10 developer update described the Mythic Shop as a way to progress toward past and current seasonal Mythic Hero skins through Premium Battle Pass progression. It also said players could choose how far to unlock one skin or spread progression across multiple skins, and that prior Mythic Hero skins would appear in the shop two seasons after debut.
Those are acquisition and progression details from the Season 10 update, distinct from the revised Tier 1 design approach announced for Season 19. The Season 10 guidance should not be treated as a current price list or confirmation of today’s shop inventory.

2026 Season 5 pass details
For a dated example of current pass rules, Blizzard’s 2026 Season 5 announcement says revised Unvaulted Passes from Seasons 1–15 return without Mythic Prisms or Mythic Hero and Weapon skins. Separately, it describes up to 80 Mythic Prisms among that season’s Battle Pass rewards. These are Season 5 details, not a timeless rule for every pass or season.
