What does “Reign of Talon” mean for Overwatch 2?
Reign of Talon is Blizzard’s year-long, connected narrative—not a single cinematic or a story limited to one new hero. Blizzard describes it as a story with a beginning, middle and end, spanning Seasons 1 through 6 before a new Season 1 begins in 2027. Its story is carried through seasonal gameplay and narrative content, including motion comics, in-game events, new voice lines, animated hero trailers and short stories. The central change is Talon’s leadership. In an Xbox Wire interview, Overwatch Narrative Lead Miranda Moyer said Vendetta “has seized control of Talon, overthrowing Doomfist and rejecting the clandestine nature in which he operated.” Moyer characterizes Vendetta as seeking a more overt conflict: rather than Doomfist’s hidden approach, Talon acts directly against Overwatch. The arc’s announced scope is six seasons and 10 new heroes over the course of the year-long story. The 10-hero figure is Blizzard’s announced plan; it does not mean all 10 had been released by October 8. WEBTOON’s series description follows the fallout from Talon’s strike on Watchpoint: Gibraltar and Sojourn’s effort to rally the heroes as Vendetta’s attacks continue.
