Blizzard announced the event for October 14–November 3, 2025; that window has passed, so those dates describe the original schedule, not current availability. The season also brought back two Halloween modes and added Stadium content, Mythic cosmetics, and midcycle activities.
How Haunted Masquerade worked
In Haunted Masquerade, players could put on masks corresponding to Heroes actively allied with them. Masks granted abilities or buffs, turning team composition into a way to experiment with combinations rather than simply choosing a Hero for their own kit. Some lore-linked pairs received additional benefits: Blizzard’s example was Reinhardt and Brigitte bracing their shields together.

Which Halloween modes were included?
Season 19’s Halloween lineup put three distinct formats together:
#1 Best Overall
- Experience the extraordinary
- Play as heroes, not classes
- Fight for the future together
- The world is your battlefield
- Overwatch legendary edition includes 5 Epic and 5 legendary skins; Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) Content Description: Blood, violence, use of tobacco
| Mode | Format |
|---|---|
| Haunted Masquerade | Team-mask experimentation, with abilities and potential synergies tied to allied Heroes. |
| Junkenstein’s Revenge | Wave defense: protect the haunted castle from zombie Omnics, stitched monsters, and bosses. |
| Wrath of the Bride | A cinematic co-op chapter starring Sojourn, Junker Queen, Kiriko, and Ashe, featuring barricades, exploding zombie Omnics, and bosses. |
These modes offered different kinds of play—team combinations, defense against waves, and story-led co-op—rather than a single format or a stated ranking.

In a PC Gamer interview report published October 15, 2025, Associate Game Director Alec Dawson described Haunted Masquerade as an exploration of team selection and how teammates benefit one another. Lead Game Designer Kirill Perekrest explained the event’s playful design brief this way: “Hey, it’s Halloween, it should be fun. It should be interesting. It should be silly.” This is PC Gamer’s report of an interview, not a Blizzard announcement.
