What changed in the December 18, 2025 update?
Blizzard’s December 18, 2025 patch notes list two relevant changes: a five-point damage reduction to one of Vendetta’s attacks and a reduction to console aim assist for a specific group of heroes.

| Console aim assist | 8% | 4% | Ashe, Bastion, Soldier: 76, Tracer, D.Va, Mauga, Ana, Baptiste, and Juno |
The aim-assist value was cut by four percentage points, leaving the listed value at half its previous level. The notes identify only those nine heroes; they do not say aim assist was removed or that every hero’s setting changed.
Why did Blizzard adjust Vendetta?
Blizzard said Vendetta’s win rate “has continued to rise as players grow more familiar with her kit.” It described the change as a “small adjustment prior to midseason,” intended to shift key breakpoints while preserving the intended flow of her abilities. The statement appears in the patch notes and is not attributed there to an individual speaker.

That explanation establishes Blizzard’s stated rationale, not whether the damage change altered a particular matchup or breakpoint in practice. The patch notes provide the numerical adjustment and design intent, but do not quantify its resulting effect on performance.
Is “a slap on the wrist” an accurate description?
It is an opinion about the size or impact of the nerf, not an official characterization. A reduction from 50 to 45 damage is a 10% decrease to the listed horizontal swing damage, but that number alone does not show how often the change affects an elimination or ability sequence. Whether it feels minor depends on the relevant breakpoint and situation.

A TechJuice article reported a 58% Vendetta win rate, but the article did not identify the data source, date range, rank, platform, sample size, or method for that figure. Without those details or an independently checked underlying dataset, it should not be treated as verified context for this patch.
Did Blizzard “murder” aim assist?
No: the official notes describe a targeted reduction, not removal. For Ashe, Bastion, Soldier: 76, Tracer, D.Va, Mauga, Ana, Baptiste, and Juno, the listed console aim-assist value moved from 8% to 4%. That is a substantial relative cut to the listed value, but it does not establish how the change affected each hero’s handling or console performance.

Player reactions should be read as individual views rather than measured outcomes. In a discussion of a later February 2026 patch, one commenter said the Vendetta change was still “a slap on the wrist” and did not change any breakpoint. Another discussed difficulty getting value from Vendetta on console in the context of hitscan and aim assist. Those comments illustrate player language; they do not establish community consensus or the effect of the December update.

- Established: On December 18, 2025, Blizzard listed Vendetta’s Palatine Fang horizontal swing damage as changing from 50 to 45.
- Established: The same notes listed console aim assist changing from 8% to 4% for nine named heroes.
- Blizzard’s stated intent: Make a small pre-midseason Vendetta adjustment to shift key breakpoints while preserving ability flow.
- Not established by these notes: Whether the changes were enough, how they affected win rates or matchups, or whether later updates changed the values.
These are historical patch details, not a statement of the live values in October 2026. The December notes alone cannot confirm whether subsequent patches altered them.
