Overwatch Season 1 launched on February 10, 2026, opening Blizzard’s Reign of Talon story arc and bringing a five-week faction event called Conquest. Players chose Overwatch or Talon, progressed faction-specific passes, and helped determine weekly and overall global winners. The launch also introduced five heroes and changes to roles, the interface, social features, and Stadium. These are historical launch details; they do not establish that Season 1 or its limited-time rewards are available now.
What Season 1 launched
Blizzard announced Season 1 on February 4, 2026, with a February 10 launch date. It framed the Reign of Talon as a connected story arc spanning Seasons 1 through 6, followed by a new Season 1 in 2027. The story was planned to unfold through a cinematic, motion comics, in-game events, new voice lines, animated hero trailers, and short stories, alongside evolving maps and art. Blizzard’s Spotlight announcement said 10 heroes would arrive during the year, with five at Season 1’s launch: Domina, Emre, Mizuki, Anran, and Jetpack Cat.

How the five-week Conquest event worked
Conquest put Overwatch and Talon in competition across five weeks. Each week, players chose a faction and completed its challenges to advance a faction-specific pass. Completed passes counted toward a global tally, so an individual player’s progress contributed to a collective result.
The February 10 Overwatch Retail Patch Notes explain the choices after finishing a weekly faction pass:
#1 Best Overall
- Experience the extraordinary
- Play as heroes, not classes
- Fight for the future together
- The world is your battlefield
- Overwatch legendary edition includes 5 Epic and 5 legendary skins
- Switch factions: Finish the other faction’s pass as a “Double Agent.”
- Stay loyal: Keep working for the same faction and progress its Prestige Pass.
At the end of each week, completed faction passes were tallied globally, and the victorious faction received a special phase reward. At the end of the five weeks, Blizzard planned to add up overall faction progress and declare a global winner. The announced rules do not establish that either faction offered better rewards in every week.

Season 1 divided Tank, Damage, and Support heroes into sub-roles with distinct passive effects. Blizzard named Bruiser, Initiator, and Stalwart for Tank; Sharpshooter, Flanker, Specialist, and Recon for Damage; and Tactician, Medic, and Survivor for Support. The Spotlight described the categories and effects as part of the update, but the announcement’s examples alone do not specify every hero assignment or effect.
