To breed a specific Pal in current Palworld, start with the child you want, find a current parent pair for that species, assign one male and one female to a Breeding Farm, place Cake in the farm’s attached box, then collect and hatch the egg. Palworld 1.0 changed breeding combinations, so Early Access recipes may no longer produce the same result. What players sometimes call “fusions” are described in current guides as breeding combinations and Mutations, not as a separate fusion system.
How to breed a specific Pal
- Choose the target Pal. Decide which species you want and, if relevant, whether you are aiming for combat, movement, base work, ranch work, or a later breeding step.
- Find a current parent pair. Look up the target species in a guide that reflects the current game version. Check variant-specific records and any gender restrictions. Palbreed’s guide recommends searching backward from the desired child and verifying the exact pair rather than relying on a remembered formula: Palworld 1.0 Breeding Guide.
- Assign the parents. Put one male and one female parent in the Breeding Farm.
- Supply Cake. Place Cake in the box attached to the farm. Without Cake, the breeding setup will not produce the intended eggs.
- Collect and hatch the egg. Take the egg from the farm and use an Egg Incubator or another current hatching facility.
- Optimize the result separately. Once you have the intended species, work on passive skills, active skills, stats, or Mutation outcomes as distinct goals.
For a current reference, Pal Compass covers breeding combinations and exceptions in its Palworld 1.0 breeding guide. PalBreedDex also documents the farm and Cake workflow in its Breeding Farm guide. Unlock the farm and make Cake
Current guides list the Breeding Farm at Technology level 19. PalBreedDex gives the farm materials as 10 Wooden Boards, 20 Stone, and 50 Fiber. Confirm the unlock and materials in your game version, since recipes and progression details can change.
The standard Cake recipe listed by Pal Compass and PalBreedDex is:

Cook the ingredients into Cake, then put it in the box attached to the Breeding Farm—not in an unrelated inventory. PalBreedDex says one Cake is consumed per egg. Its current farm guide is labeled for version 1.0.5 and was updated September 17, 2026: PalBreedDex Breeding Farm Guide.
Which Cake should you use?
Cakes have different stated purposes. The sources describe these effects qualitatively; they do not establish exact probability increases, so the table compares goals rather than numerical strength.

| Cake | Stated purpose | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Cake | Basic breeding resource. | You need the ordinary Cake supply for breeding. |
| Mushroom Cake | Makes talent growth slightly easier. | Your goal is talent growth. |
| Vegetable Cake | Produces two eggs at once. | You want more eggs from a breeding cycle. |
| Extravagant Vegetable Cake | Makes Mutations more likely and talent growth easier. | You are pursuing a Mutation or talent growth. |
| Special Cake | Improves the likelihood of inheriting multiple parent passive skills. | You are breeding for multiple inherited passive skills. |
Palbreed and Pal Compass both describe these goals but do not provide supported exact rates or inheritance percentages: Palbreed’s guide and Pal Compass’s guide.
How breeding combinations work—and why old charts can fail
The parent-pair data determines the normal species result. Because Palworld 1.0 changed combination data, an Early Access pair should not be assumed to produce the same child now. Search from the intended child and verify the exact current pair, including variants and gender requirements, before putting resources into a long route.

Some species have special combinations, can be bred with themselves, or have gender restrictions. That is why a single rule of thumb is not reliable for every Pal. Pal Compass’s guide discusses such exceptions; check the individual pair record rather than applying a formula universally: Palworld 1.0 Breeding Guide.

Current guides use the term Mutation for a special breeding outcome; the evidence available does not establish “fusion” as a separate current mechanic. The sources associate Mutation with stronger starting stats and a unique passive, and say Extravagant Vegetable Cake increases the likelihood of one. They do not establish a verified rate or a full outcome distribution, so claims such as a precise percentage chance are not supported.

Keep species, passives, skills, stats, and Mutations distinct
- Species result: determined by the selected parent pair’s current combination record.
- Passive inheritance: a separate optimization goal; Special Cake is described as improving the likelihood of inheriting multiple parent passive skills.
- Active skills and stats: separate from choosing the child species, and should be evaluated for the build or job you want.
- Mutation: a possible special outcome associated by current guides with stronger starting stats and a unique passive; its exact odds are not established by the cited sources.
