What Pal Souls do
At a Statue of Power, select a Pal and invest Pal Souls in one of four stats: HP, Attack, Defense, or Work Speed. The current-version reference says each purchased stat bar adds 3% to the selected stat. Pal Souls upgrade stats; they are not used to condense Pals. Palworld.tools’ upgrade reference reports these mechanics from Palworld v1.0.5, build 25246127, updated October 3, 2026.
How to get Pal Souls in Palworld
Explore and open chests
Pal Souls can appear as ground finds and chest loot, according to Prima Games’ January 2024 guide. These are opportunistic sources while exploring rather than a guaranteed yield.
Defeat Pals that can drop them
Prima Games lists Daedream, Nox, Cawgnito, Maraith, Tombat, and Felbat as Small Pal Soul drop examples; Helzephyr for Medium Pal Souls; and Anubis for Large Pal Souls. That list comes from a 2024 guide, so treat the named Pals as leads, not a definitive current drop table. Check drops in your game before building a farm around a specific species.

Breed and butcher surplus Pals
For a mid-game supply route, Palworld.tools recommends breeding Anubis or Aegidron and butchering surplus Pals. This requires breeding access and a willingness to use the resulting extras for materials; it is a guide’s suggested approach, not a measured comparison against other methods.
Farm the World Tree later
Palworld.tools describes farming at World Tree Wistella as an endgame option. The guide reports 1,000+ Small Pal Souls per 10 minutes for a particular party and setup. That is the guide’s setup-dependent result, not an independently verified yield or a promise of what every player will earn. Party composition and farming setup matter, and the source does not establish an apples-to-apples speed comparison with the breeding-and-butchering route.

How soul costs progress at the Statue of Power
The same current-version reference says a stat upgrade increases the chosen stat by 3% per purchased bar, while the soul tier required rises as you buy more bars:

These are the points at which higher tiers enter the cost, not a single fixed total cost that applies to every Pal. Palworld.tools also says resetting upgrades refunds the souls but costs gold; check the fee shown in your current game before resetting, since the reference does not establish a universal current price.
Choosing where to spend them
Choose the stat that supports the Pal’s role: HP, Attack, and Defense improve combat-related attributes, while Work Speed supports work tasks. Since each investment is assigned to a specific stat and higher bars call for higher soul tiers, decide which Pal and stat you want to prioritize before spending rarer souls.
