Paranoia Mantle is a Season of Discovery leather shoulder item for level-50 characters, with 1% hit and a melee proc that works only in Nightmare-influenced areas. To craft it, reach Leatherworking 250, complete Waking the Nightmare, then learn the recipe from the Shadowy Figure in Moonglade.
Paranoia Mantle stats and effects
Added in Patch 1.15.2 on April 2, 2024, Paranoia Mantle is a bind-on-pickup leather shoulder item at item level 55. Its requirements and effects are:
- Requirements: Level 50 and Leatherworking 250.
- Armor: 129.
- Stats: +16 Agility and +14 Stamina.
- Hit: Improves hit chance with spells and attacks by 1%.
- Melee proc: Melee attacks have a chance to increase attack speed by 5% and attack power by 50 for 10 seconds. This effect does not work outside areas under the influence of the Nightmare.

How to unlock the Paranoia Mantle recipe
- Complete the Waking the Nightmare questline.
- Speak to the Shadowy Figure in Moonglade to learn the Leatherworking recipe.
- Craft it with Leatherworking skill 250 and the required materials listed below.
The Phase 3 crafting guide describes a questline involving Nightmare Incursions, Moonglade, and Sunken Temple. It also says the Inert Mantle of Nightmares is a quest reward, with additional mantles available from Rix Xizzix in Booty Bay. The recipe is bind-on-pickup gear, so plan around the character who will use it and the Leatherworking requirement.
Is Paranoia Mantle worth using?
It depends on your class, build, phase, available shoulders, and where you play. The 1% hit applies to spells and attacks, while the attack-speed and attack-power proc is limited to Nightmare-influenced areas. That makes the proc relevant in Nightmare Incursions and Sunken Temple, but not a general-purpose benefit everywhere.

Wowhead lists Paranoia Mantle as the best shoulder option in its Phase 3 Rogue DPS recommendations and notes the proc works in Nightmare Incursions and Sunken Temple. That is a Rogue- and phase-specific ranking, not a universal best-in-slot verdict. For another class or build—including melee Hunter—compare the item’s hit, Agility, and Stamina with the alternative’s stats, and consider whether your regular content lets you benefit from the proc.
