In Path of Exile 2, Traitor’s Passage is an Act 2 cavern zone reached from the Ardura Caravan’s desert map after the Mawdun Mine route is unlocked. Balbala, the Traitor, is found deeper inside in the Prison of the Disgraced. The passage’s layout is generated, so use landmarks rather than relying on a fixed sequence of turns.
How to get to Traitor’s Passage

Progress through Act 2 until you have defeated Rudja in Mawdun Mine. Game8 reports that defeating Rudja unlocks the route to Traitor’s Passage; check the current game if your map does not show it, as access details can change. Game8’s location guide

How to find Balbala in the generated passage
Balbala is in the Prison of the Disgraced, a deeper section of the cavern. Because the layout varies between instances, there is no dependable universal set of turns. Use the environment to confirm progress instead:

Paper seals: Treat the seals as route markers as you explore; they can help indicate that you are following the path toward the prison.

The Six Sisters staircase: This is a recognizable landmark in the passage. Use it to orient yourself rather than assuming it appears at a fixed distance or in a fixed direction.

The Decree of Imprisonment: Look for this landmark as another clue that you are approaching the prison area.

What to know about Balbala and the quest
Balbala, the Traitor is the boss encounter in the Prison of the Disgraced. Game8 describes her as optional and says her Barya provides access to the Trial of the Sekhemas. Its encounter guidance also warns about poison gas during an invisibility phase. Keep the area’s main route separate from optional ascendancy progression. Traitor’s Passage is associated with The Trail of Corruption; a separate optional Ascent to Power objective is associated with obtaining Balbala’s Barya or a Djinn Barya. First check the Ardura Caravan desert map and confirm that you have completed the Mawdun Mine step reported to unlock access. If you are already in the passage, use its waypoint and landmarks to check whether you are still exploring or have reached the Prison of the Disgraced.
Historical posts on the official forum reported issues involving Cruel Act 2 progression and Barya drops in December 2024. Those are individual reports from that period, not evidence that a current widespread bug exists. If your objective remains blocked, verify the current patch notes or official support guidance before treating it as a known bug.
