Where capybaras appear in PEAK
The community wiki places capybaras in either the Alpine biome, at the Hot Spring, or the Mesa biome, at the Oasis. The specific Hot Spring or Oasis location is randomized with each map seed, so knowing the biome alone does not reveal the route for a particular run. Community wiki

According to the community wiki, capybaras are relevant to two badges: the Animal Serenading Badge and the Gourmand Badge. The wiki says a Bugle, Bugle of Friendship, or Scoutmaster’s Bugle can be used near capybaras for the Animal Serenading Badge; it also says at least one capybara in a group can have a Yellow Winterberry for the Gourmand Badge.
