Her route opens through story progression on August 31; to reach Rank 2, you also need Rank 4 Kindness and must meet her after September 2. How to unlock and rank up Futaba’s Hermit Confidant
Futaba Sakura is Sojiro’s foster daughter and the Phantom Thieves’ navigator. Her Confidant follows her efforts to reconnect with other people and an old pen pal. Atlus describes Confidants as trusted bonds that strengthen the Phantom Thieves’ abilities. This route guide is for Persona 5 Royal; do not assume Royal’s phone-call dialogue applies to the original Persona 5.

- Affinity boost: Keep a Persona of the Hermit Arcana in your stock during hangouts. It boosts affinity from relevant responses.
- Rank 7 gate: Complete the Mementos request “Daughter’s Just a Meal Ticket” before you can advance to Rank 8.
Her reported weekday availability differs between the consulted guides: RPG Site lists Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday daytime; GameFAQs lists Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Both place her outside LeBlanc and note weather conditions. Because the schedules conflict, check the in-game map and calendar for your current version rather than relying on a fixed weekday list.

Exact wording can vary by localization. “Any” means the cited guide says the prompt does not change affinity. Rank 9: choose friendship or romance
The Rank 9 relationship choice determines whether the route is friendship or romance, not whether you can complete the Confidant. “Because we’re teammates” keeps the relationship platonic; “Because I love you” selects romance. Choose the answer that fits the relationship you want—romance is optional.

Futaba is a navigator, not a party member who directly fights Shadows. Her rewards provide support effects, and the listed abilities generally activate by chance rather than on demand. The Rank 10 reward includes Final Guard and a fusion unlock.

The GameFAQs guide reproduces a line from Sae Niijima about the Phantom Thieves’ hacker: “We were impressed with the intel-gathering skills of the Phantom Thieves as well. We also know that this would’ve been impossible unless you had a skilled hacker… …Who was doing this!?” It is in-game dialogue, not an external assessment.
