Persona 5: The Phantom X (P5X) does not have one universal pity rule. An August 15, 2025 Operations Team letter described two contract systems for the western and Japanese versions: one guarantees a 5-star on the 80th draw at the latest, then guarantees the Most Wanted 5-star after a non-featured 5-star; the other guarantees the Most Wanted 5-star on the 110th draw at the latest. The letter says their counters are separate. These are dated rules, not confirmation of every region’s live banners today. Check the Contract screen’s Drop Rates panel for the terms in your game. How does pity work in P5X?
The clearest official explanation is the Persona5: The Phantom X Operations Team’s August 15, 2025 letter. It described two systems for the western and Japanese versions, with different draw counts and rates. Some contract types—including Newcomer Contracts and Arms Deals—were identified as using different systems, so do not assume that every banner follows either rule.
The 80-draw system
Under the letter’s “Current Main Contracts System,” if the previous 79 draws produced no 5-star, the next draw guarantees a 5-star. If that 5-star is not the Most Wanted character, the next 5-star is guaranteed to be the Most Wanted. In other words, the first guarantee is a 5-star guarantee; the featured-character guarantee depends on having received a non-featured 5-star first. It is not an unconditional promise that any chosen character arrives by draw 80. Operations Team letter, August 15, 2025
The 110-draw system
The letter’s “New Contracts System” guarantees a 5-star if the previous 109 draws contain no 5-star, and says that guaranteed 5-star is the Most Wanted. This is a conditional threshold: it describes the next draw after 109 without a 5-star, not a universal fixed cost for every character or contract. Operations Team letter, August 15, 2025

Is the featured character guaranteed?
It depends on which contract system your banner uses. In the 2025 description of the 80-draw system, the first 5-star is not necessarily the Most Wanted; a non-Most-Wanted result makes the next 5-star guaranteed to be Most Wanted. In the 110-draw system, the 5-star reached after 109 draws without one is guaranteed to be Most Wanted. Verify the banner’s current rule in-game rather than applying either description to a different contract type or region.
Does pity carry over between banners?
The Operations Team said the two systems would coexist and that their draw counters would be counted separately. That does not establish that every banner within a system shares a counter, or that counters transfer across regions or contract types. Check the specific contract’s in-game details before relying on previous pulls.
How to check current banner rates and rules
- Open the game’s Contract screen.
- Select the relevant contract and tap Drop Rates.
- Review the listed characters or weapons, probabilities, and contract details. Use the live screen for your region and banner rather than relying on an old announcement.

What to compare before spending on a contract
- Guarantee threshold: Is the guarantee stated after 79 or 109 prior draws without a 5-star, or does the contract list another rule?
- Featured-character condition: Is the next 5-star guaranteed to be Most Wanted, or can the first 5-star be another eligible character?
- Counter treatment: Does the contract share a counter with another banner, or is it separate?
- Contract type and pool: A character contract and an Arms Deal may use different systems and feature different eligible items.
- Event limits: Check the selection lock, duration, and end time if the banner lets you choose a target.
- Rates and bonuses: Read the current probability table and confirm whether draws grant event items or other bonuses.
A past example: Most Wanted Casting Call and Arms Deal
A June 25, 2026 SEGA notice provides an example of event-specific selection rules; it is not evidence that the offer remains active. The Most Wanted Casting Call ran for 30 days from each player’s next login after maintenance on June 24. Players could select up to three exclusive 5-star Phantom Thieves for Chance and Targeted Contracts. Selections could be revised before the first draw, then became fixed for that particular contract. Each draw also awarded 10 Prism Cognigems. SEGA event notice, June 25, 2026
#1 Best Overall
- Officially licensed by Sega

- Very limited and collectible
- Minor assembly required

The associated “Silent Pistol” Arms Deal separately allowed a choice of one limited 5-star weapon from its listed lineup and ran for the same login-based 30-day period. It did not award Prism Cognigems per draw. The notice said some limited weapons might be available through other opportunities later, but the selection option in that particular Arms Deal ended with its event; it did not promise a rerun. Quick Recap
What is known about banners now?
An official news index entry dated September 9, 2026 is titled “5★ Phantom Thief: Cosmic Yui coming to Most Wanted Phantom Idol Contracts!” The listing alone does not establish the banner’s end date, current odds, or whether it is still active on October 8, 2026. For those details, rely on the relevant region’s in-game Contract screen. Official P5X news index
