Who is Pinstress?
Pinstress is both an NPC and a quest boss in Hollow Knight: Silksong. The community-maintained Hollow Knight Wiki entry describes her as a surviving blade maiden of the Order of the Pinstress, a warrior group nearly wiped out after conflict with the Citadel. It identifies Pinstress and Seamstress as the order’s only surviving members; that history is lore reporting from a community reference, not an official developer statement.
The Hunter’s Journal line reproduced by the wiki reads: “Blade maiden of a once renowned warrior sect, survived long beyond the rest of her order.” Pinstress also says, “Of my once revered order, only two of us remain”.

Look west of the Great Conchflies boss area in the Blasted Steps for Pinstress’s initial encounter. This interaction teaches Hornet Needle Strike.

Fatal Resolve fight: Mount Fay
The boss encounter is in Mount Fay and is associated with the Fatal Resolve wish. The cited references say to reach it by accepting Fatal Resolve from Bellhart’s wishboard or by finding the relevant clue at Pinstress’s home. Check the current game version if the encounter or wishboard steps differ in your playthrough.
How to approach the fight
Game8 describes Pinstress as fast-moving and difficult to hit while airborne. Its advice is to target her with tools or skills when she is in the air, then take melee opportunities when she is near the ground. These are the guide’s recommendations, not a tested ranking of loadouts.
