Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →If The Planet Crafter keeps crashing on PC, start by noting whether only the game closes or the entire computer freezes, shuts down, or shows a blue screen. Those symptoms point to different problems. For a game-only crash, work through these reversible checks one at a time; they are troubleshooting tests, not guaranteed fixes.
First, identify what “crashing” means
Write down when the failure happens: before the game opens, immediately after launch, during a particular activity, or alongside a Windows-wide failure. The Steam Community troubleshooting guide separates launch failures from crashes during play, which helps narrow the next step. It is community-authored guidance, not an official list of fixes from Miju Games.
- Only the game closes: Start with Steam files, mods, drivers, overlays, and game settings.
- The whole PC freezes, shuts down, or blue-screens: Treat this as a broader Windows or hardware problem rather than assuming the game alone is responsible. Note any error message and investigate the system-level failure.
Change one thing at a time and retest the same situation. If you change several settings together, you will not know which test mattered.
1. Restart the PC and Steam
Close Steam, restart Windows, reopen Steam, and launch the game again. This is a low-risk first check, not a confirmed Planet Crafter-specific cure. If the crash returns, continue rather than repeating restarts.

2. Verify the installed game files
For a Steam installation that will not launch or crashes unexpectedly, the community troubleshooting guide recommends checking the game files.
- Open Steam → Library.
- Right-click The Planet Crafter and select Properties.
- Choose Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files and let the check finish.
Steam will check the installation and replace files it identifies as missing or damaged. Test the game before trying another change.

3. Temporarily remove mods
If you use mods, disable or remove them temporarily and try launching the unmodded game. A mod can be part of the problem, but its presence alone does not prove that it caused the crash.
Before changing files manually, back up saves and configuration data. Do not delete a folder just because it is associated with the game: the community guide describes removing leftover installation files and verifying again for some launch problems, but deleting files can remove data you meant to keep. Use Steam’s verification step first, and only consider a clean reinstall after protecting your saves and confirming which files are safe to remove.

4. Compare your PC with the Steam requirements
Check the live Steam listing for The Planet Crafter and compare it with your PC. Miju Games’ listing gives these Windows requirements (accessed 2026):
| Specification | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
| Memory | 4 GB RAM | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics memory | 3 GB VRAM | 6 GB VRAM |
| Available storage | 4 GB | 4 GB |
The processor entries on the listing are unusual; check their exact current wording there rather than interpreting or substituting a different processor benchmark. These are published system requirements, not evidence that a particular component caused your crash. If your PC is below a listed requirement, that is useful context for troubleshooting, not proof of a single cause.

5. Check the graphics driver
Install the latest driver available for your graphics card from its manufacturer’s official support channel. If the crashing began after a driver update, a clean reinstall of the driver may be worth testing; follow the GPU maker’s instructions. Reboot and retest before changing anything else.
Older graphics cards that no longer receive driver updates may require reduced resolution or graphics quality. Consider replacing a GPU only if your hardware is below the published requirements or a qualified diagnosis identifies a GPU limitation—not as a default response to a game crash.

6. Turn off overlays and background utilities temporarily
Overlays and background utilities can be tested by disabling them, then launching the game again. Try Steam Overlay, Discord Overlay, and Windows Game Bar one at a time. If a test makes no difference, turn that feature back on before moving to the next one. The community guide suggests checking these kinds of software conflicts; none is established as a universal cause.
7. Test audio devices and graphics settings
If the crash continues, make one reversible settings change, test, and restore it if there is no improvement.
- Audio: If Windows has several unusual or unused audio devices enabled, temporarily disable one in Windows sound settings and retest. Restore it if the symptom is unchanged.
- Display mode: Try windowed or borderless mode instead of the current mode.
- Graphics: Lower resolution or quality as a diagnostic test. If performance improves, raise settings gradually to identify where the problem returns.
- Frame rate: If the game or your graphics software offers a frame-rate limit, try a lower cap and compare.
- Shader cache: The community guide includes shader-cache troubleshooting. Avoid deleting unrelated files; use the relevant Windows or graphics-driver controls and follow their instructions.
These checks can help isolate a configuration or software interaction, but the available guidance does not establish that any one setting will fix every crash.
8. Send useful details to Miju Games support
If the checks do not resolve the issue, contact Miju Games at the Steam Support page for the game, which lists the developer support email [email protected]. Include when the crash occurs, whether Windows also fails, your Windows version, CPU, graphics card and VRAM, RAM, driver version, whether you use mods, and any error message or crash information you have. Those details help support distinguish a launch problem from a gameplay or system-wide failure.
