Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted, EA’s HD remaster of the original lane-based defense game, was released on October 23, 2025. It is already available as of October 8, 2026; the original claim about an October launch has since been confirmed by EA.
Why the release was first described as a claim
On July 28, 2025, PlayStation LifeStyle reported that Dealabs leaker Billbil-kun had identified the game as Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted and named October 23 as its release date. The report said it was based on sources and anticipated an official announcement within a month. Three days later, EA revealed the game during a Nintendo Direct presentation, as GameSpot reported. EA now lists October 23, 2025 as the release date.
What Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted includes
EA describes Replanted as an HD remaster of the original game, with bonus levels and new content. It includes classic mini-games, local co-op and local player-versus-player, plus solo challenges including Cloudy Day and Rest in Peace.
How the added challenge modes work
- Rest in Peace: A permadeath challenge. If you fail, you return to the beginning.
- Cloudy Day: A resource-management variant in which sleeping Sunflowers stop producing sun.
In an October 14, 2025 interview with Epic Games Store, PopCap Studios executive producer Jake Neri said, “Ultimately, our goal was to create a game that honors the original while giving players a reason to come back,” Co-op also lets players work together while competing over plants and resources.
