Plasmified Zango is an optional Act 3 boss in Hollow Knight: Silksong, found in a secret room in the western Wormways. He regenerates while you are not damaging him, so sustained attack pressure is the straightforward approach; a Needle Phial provides an alternative by permanently lowering his maximum health with each successful extraction.
Where to find Plasmified Zango
Look for a secret room in the western Wormways. Zango’s corpse is present before Act 3, but he becomes hostile only after Plasmium transforms the Wormways in Act 3. Approaching him starts the encounter.
The Hollow Knight Wiki reports that Zango does not lock Hornet inside the room. You can leave and return if you need to recover or change your approach. The location and encounter details here are reported by a community-maintained guide; no game version or patch identifier is specified.
Who Zango is
Zango was Alchemist Zylotol’s assistant, and the two shared an interest in Plasmium. On Zylotol’s instructions, Zango planted Plasmium buds in the Wormways and died there. After the area changes in Act 3, the substance reanimates his body.

The Hollow Knight Wiki transcribes this Hunter’s Journal entry: “Husk of an alchemist’s assistant granted false life by Plasmium.” It also reproduces the Journal’s reflection on the alchemist’s actions: “He carelessly seeded these caves with that cursed substance… His final fate seems fair reward for those efforts, yet I feel some sympathy. It is an alluring power.”
A Needolin memory at the corpse is transcribed as: “To our dead lands… life…” / “The buds must grow…” / “Only a little… Only a spark…” / “Too dark…” These lines and the Journal text are game text as reproduced by the community wiki.

How to beat Plasmified Zango
The central challenge is his regeneration: the Hollow Knight Wiki lists 1,000 health and reports that he restores 25 health every 0.75 seconds while he is not actively taking damage. Long gaps between attacks let him recover, so keep dealing damage whenever it is safe rather than relying on occasional heavy bursts.
Approach 1: Keep up sustained damage
Use a steady stream of attacks to limit the health he regains. The wiki suggests tools including Silkshot (Original), Sting Shard, and Tacks, and mentions the Beast Crest and Wanderer Crest as ways to maintain pressure. Treat these as guide suggestions, not a guaranteed optimal build; use the tools and crest that suit your setup.

Approach 2: Use Needle Phial extractions
If you have the Needle Phial, each successful extraction removes 250 from Zango’s maximum health, according to the wiki. It lists four extractions as enough to kill him. This is a distinct route from out-damaging his regeneration: it lowers his health ceiling rather than asking you to maintain uninterrupted damage. Its usefulness depends on having the tool and being able to land extractions.
Expect his attacks to change as the fight progresses
The guide reports that Plasmium Torrent attacks become more frequent as Zango’s health declines. Below 500 health, his shuffle is replaced by a slide. The attack names used by the guide are not necessarily official in-game names, so treat them as descriptive shorthand.
