PlayStation Network was not fully down on October 8, 2026. In Sony’s captured status snapshot, Account Management and Create Account had an active issue, while Gaming and Social, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and PlayStation Direct were listed as running. Which PlayStation Network services were affected?
Sony’s status notice identified Account Management and Create Account as affected. It warned that users might have difficulty signing in or creating an account and said Sony was working to resolve the issue.
In the same captured status snapshot, Sony listed these services as running:
- Gaming and Social
- PlayStation Video
- PlayStation Store
- PlayStation Direct
That points to a partial disruption, not a confirmed shutdown of all PSN services. An individual account request can still fail even when other components show as running.

When did the issue begin, and is it fixed?
Sony’s status search result showed a start time of October 8, 2026, at 12:08 a.m., but did not specify the time zone. IsDown’s incident record also dates the disruption to October 8 and identifies Account Management and Create Account as affected.
The captured records do not confirm an exact restoration time for the account issue. Status can change by component, so check Sony’s page for the current state rather than assuming every sign-in or account request has recovered.

What caused the outage?
Sony’s captured notice and the incident record did not give a cause. A separate PSN outage reported on July 24, 2026, involved AWS network issues, but that earlier event is not evidence of the cause of the October 8 account-management disruption.
