The reporting does not establish a blanket end to PC releases: multiplayer and live-service games are treated differently, and Sony has not publicly announced that all PlayStation-published games will remain console-exclusive. The claim attributed in the original headline to an “Xbox Insider” could not be corroborated by the reporting cited here.
What the reports say about PlayStation PC ports
The clearest reported change concerns narrative single-player games made by PlayStation Studios. In May 2026, GameSpot, citing Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, reported that PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst told staff those games would be PlayStation-exclusive. GameSpot named Saros, Ghost of Yotei and Marvel’s Wolverine as examples it considered unlikely to reach PC in the near future. That is a report about internal remarks, not a public Sony policy announcement.
Schreier had described a similar direction earlier. In February 2026, he said on the Triple Click podcast that he was getting the sense Sony was backing away from PC releases of traditional single-player console exclusives, while live-service games could still come to PC. He also expressed uncertainty about how well PC releases were performing. Insider Gaming’s February account summarized those comments.
In June, Insider Gaming reproduced Schreier’s account of the reported staff remarks. Schreier said he had confirmed them with two people who heard Hulst. The reasons attributed to Hulst included inconsistent results from PC releases, earnings that were not sufficient, and a preference to keep PlayStation intellectual property aligned with Sony’s platform. These are reported explanations from a staff meeting, not reasons Sony has publicly confirmed. Insider Gaming’s June report has the account.

Which kinds of games may still come to PC?
The reports distinguish narrative single-player games from multiplayer-oriented releases. Helldivers II and Marathon were cited as examples in coverage of multiplayer titles, but those examples do not guarantee the platform plans for any particular future game. Push Square likewise reported no indication that Sony would stop porting live-service or externally developed games.
| Game category | What the reporting indicates | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| In-house narrative single-player | Reported as the category PlayStation may keep exclusive to its platform. | It does not confirm that every such game will be exclusive forever or settle every title’s release plan. |
| Multiplayer or live-service | Discussed separately; some coverage suggests these games may continue to reach PC. | It is not a promise that any named or future game will launch on PC. |
| Externally developed games published by PlayStation | Push Square reported no indication that ports in this category would stop. | The available reporting does not define a universal policy or confirm specific releases. |
What Sony’s annual report does—and does not—show
Video Games Chronicle reported that Sony’s 2026 annual report omitted wording present in the previous year’s report about continuing to deploy first-party games to platforms such as PC. That change is consistent with reports of a strategic pullback, but it is not an explicit declaration that all PC ports are ending. VGC’s comparison of the annual-report language provides the documentary context.

Why Sony may be changing direction
According to Schreier’s account of the reported staff meeting, Hulst cited uneven performance and insufficient earnings from PC releases, alongside a desire to keep PlayStation’s franchises associated with its own platform. Those explanations should remain attributed to the reported remarks; Sony has not made them a public statement of policy in the sources cited here.
Push Square reported an estimate that PC ports generated around 1.5% of PlayStation revenue over four years, with much of that amount driven by Helldivers 2. This is Push Square’s estimate, not a verified figure published by Sony. Push Square’s report gives its account of the estimate.

Former Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida offered a possible interpretation, while stressing that he did not know Sony’s current internal thinking for sure. In a September 2026 interview discussed by GamesRadar+, he said the platform-business side was “kind of winning the argument,” and noted that platform teams want something exclusive. That is Yoshida’s analysis, not confirmation of Sony’s decision-making. GamesRadar+ covered his comments.
What PC players should expect for games such as Wolverine
Marvel’s Wolverine, Saros and Ghost of Yotei were named by GameSpot as games it considered unlikely to come to PC in the near future. That is an assessment based on the reported shift, not an official release announcement for each title. Anyone who wants access to a named game should check its current platform listing and announcements rather than assume a later PC port will arrive.

The practical distinction is between a game that launches on PlayStation and a PC port released later. Sony has brought some games to PC after their console launches in the past; the reports suggest that the later-port path may become less likely for its in-house narrative single-player titles. They do not show that every PlayStation game follows the same schedule or policy.
