Yes, PlayStation Plus has an app for Windows PC game streaming. It is separate from the PlayStation App used on phones and tablets. The PC app is for Premium members who want to stream eligible games; the mobile app handles account and console features such as messaging, purchases, console pairing and remote downloads.
Choosing the right app matters because installing the mobile PlayStation App will not give you the PC streaming interface, while the PC app does not replace the mobile tools for managing your console account.

There are two different PlayStation apps
“PlayStation Plus app” can refer to two Sony applications with different jobs. The first is the PlayStation Plus PC app, designed for streaming eligible PlayStation Plus games on a compatible Windows computer. The second is the PlayStation App for mobile devices, which connects your PlayStation account and console-related functions in one place.

The PC and mobile applications are not interchangeable. Sony’s PC guide specifically describes signing in to the PC app, connecting a controller and selecting a game to stream. Sony’s mobile support documentation describes account and console functions instead.

What the PlayStation Plus PC app does
The PC app gives eligible games a cloud-streaming route on a Windows computer. You do not use it as a general-purpose launcher for every PlayStation title. The game must be included in the streaming selection available to your Premium membership and region at the time you play.
Cloud streaming is a Premium benefit
Sony identifies cloud streaming as a PlayStation Plus Premium benefit in its US membership support information. A lower membership tier does not give you the Premium streaming entitlement described in Sony’s PC getting-started guidance. If the app lets you sign in but does not offer a stream option, confirm that the account has Premium and that the particular game is eligible.
It is intended for adults
Sony’s PC getting-started page says PC access is for people aged 18 or older. Use an adult PlayStation account when setting up the service. A child or restricted account may not meet the PC access requirement even if it can use other PlayStation account features.

Sony says you may browse the PC app with a controller or with a keyboard and mouse. Playing, however, requires a compatible controller. A keyboard and mouse can therefore help you navigate the catalog, but they are not a substitute for the controller requirement for streamed gameplay.
PC requirements to check before installing
Check these items first so you do not mistake an account, network or controller problem for a missing app feature.

The 5 Mbps figure is a stated minimum, not a promise of a particular picture quality or latency. A connection can meet that number and still feel poor if it is unstable, congested or far from the service. Sony’s pages also warn implicitly through their regional scope that requirements, catalog access and membership terms can change; the US guidance should not be treated as a universal rule for every country.

How to use the PC app
The basic setup follows Sony’s PC guide. The labels can change as the application is updated, but the sequence is straightforward.

- Confirm eligibility. Make sure you are using an adult PlayStation account, have an active Premium membership and are in a region where the PC service is offered.
- Check the computer. Confirm that Windows meets the current requirement shown on Sony’s live download page. The published support pages differ on whether Windows 8.1 is accepted, so use the current regional page as the final authority.
- Install the PlayStation Plus PC app. Download the PC application from Sony’s official PlayStation support or download destination for your region. Do not install the mobile PlayStation App expecting the same catalog interface.
- Sign in. Open the PC app and log in with the adult account that owns the Premium membership. If the app shows a different account, sign out before testing the catalog.
- Connect a controller. Pair or plug in a compatible controller before starting a game. The DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller is one model Sony lists as compatible.
- Browse the catalog. Use the controller or keyboard and mouse to find a title. A listing is not necessarily streamable in every country or on every membership; look for the available stream action for your account.
- Start the stream. Select an eligible game and choose the stream command. The game runs through the service rather than being installed as a normal local PC game.
If the app opens but no games can be streamed, work through membership, account, region, controller and network checks in that order. Reinstalling the program will not add a Premium entitlement or make an unavailable title eligible.
Controller compatibility and common limitations
Sony explicitly lists the DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller as compatible with the PC app. Sony also says that some third-party XInput controllers may work, but does not guarantee compatibility for every model. “XInput” is therefore a possibility, not a blanket certification.
- For the most predictable setup, use a controller Sony names as compatible and connect it before launching the game.
- If a third-party pad is detected by Windows but not by the app, test a supported controller rather than assuming the PC, account or membership is at fault.
- Keyboard and mouse support is useful for navigating the app. It does not remove the requirement for a compatible controller when you play.
- Controller problems can be caused by pairing, cable, driver or input-mode issues. Reconnect the controller, close other software that may capture input, then restart the app before changing account settings.
What the mobile PlayStation App is for
The mobile PlayStation App is the companion for PlayStation account and console activity. Sony’s support material documents four core functions:
- Messaging: communicate through PlayStation account features from the phone or tablet.
- Purchases: buy games and other available content through the account.
- Console pairing: connect the app with a PlayStation console for supported account functions.
- Remote downloads: start downloads to a paired console so content can be ready when you return to it.

Troubleshooting the PC app
The app is not available for your computer
First verify the Windows version against Sony’s current download page. The conflicting published minimums—Windows 8.1 or 10 on one support page and Windows 10 on another—mean an older computer may be accepted by one document but rejected by the current installer. Do not infer support from the fact that another Sony application runs on the same machine.

You can sign in but cannot stream
Check that the signed-in account is an adult account with Premium. Then confirm the title is eligible for streaming in your country. A game can appear in a catalog or be available for another membership tier without being streamable through your account.
The controller is not recognized
Reconnect the controller and confirm that Windows sees it before opening the app. If you are using a third-party XInput model, switch to the DUALSHOCK 4 model Sony lists as compatible when possible. Because Sony does not guarantee every third-party controller, replacing the controller is a more useful test than repeatedly reinstalling the app.
Streaming is unstable
Confirm that the connection reaches Sony’s stated 5 Mbps minimum on the PC itself, then test again when other devices are not consuming bandwidth. The minimum is a baseline requirement, not a guarantee against lag or interruptions. If the connection repeatedly falls below the requirement, address the network before changing membership or account settings.

That behavior is expected. The mobile PlayStation App is documented for messaging, purchases, console pairing and remote downloads. Install and sign in to the PlayStation Plus PC app on a compatible Windows computer for the streaming workflow.
Availability, catalog and requirement changes
The documented requirements come from Sony’s US support pages. Sony notes that catalog availability and membership terms can vary by country and can change over time. A title that is streamable today may leave the service, and a feature available in one market may not be offered in another.
For that reason, check three live details immediately before setup: the regional PC download page’s Windows requirement, the membership page for the account’s territory, and the game’s current eligibility for cloud streaming. Treat the 5 Mbps figure and the listed controller models as the published baseline, not as a guarantee that every computer, network or third-party accessory will deliver the same experience.
