The February 2026 “big hit” referred to reported departures from the PlayStation Plus Extra Game Catalog—not a cut to the Essential monthly games. Eight titles were reported as scheduled to leave on February 17, 2026. That date has passed, and the report treated a ninth listed game, Spirit of the North, as a likely error.

- Carto
- Cult of the Lamb
- New World: Aeternum
- Rez Infinite
- SaGa Frontier Remastered
- Super Neptunia RPG
- The Ascent
- WWE 2K25
These are the titles named in the contemporaneous report as scheduled departures, not a claim that they remain available or are leaving now. The article framed the rotation as a “big hit”; that is commentary, not a measured assessment of the service’s value. Read Push Square’s January 20 report.
Was Spirit of the North also leaving?
Push Square noted that Spirit of the North appeared in a departure listing but said it could not confirm that the game was part of Extra at the time. The outlet therefore treated its appearance as likely erroneous, rather than confirming it as a ninth departure.

Was this about the free monthly games?
No. The headline’s “big hit” concerned the Extra Game Catalog. PlayStation Plus Essential’s monthly games are a separate benefit; the departure report did not say Sony had cut or changed them.
What arrived in the February catalog rotation?
Sony announced the February additions on February 12 and said the full lineup would be available on February 17, 2026. The Extra additions it named were:

The reported eight departures and February additions were announced for the same date, but counting titles alone does not establish whether the change was good or bad: the games differ, and catalog availability can vary by region. The headline is best understood as a reaction to a rotation of Extra games, not as a service-wide reduction or a change to Essential monthly games.
