The archive does not verify a later event matching the headline.
PlayStation’s May 20 announcement was titled “State of Play returns Tuesday, June 2,” and its recap later described that broadcast as running for over 60 minutes. Those statements identify the June event specifically; they are not evidence of an October broadcast. PlayStation’s June 2 recap and the official State of Play page provide the dated event material.
Does the official lineup confirm 14 new PS5 games?
No. The June recap covers announcements, gameplay reveals, updates, release information, and other news, but the available official material does not substantiate an exact count of 14 newly announced games. A count also depends on what qualifies as “new”: a first announcement is different from a release-date confirmation, gameplay update, demo announcement, or news about a previously announced game.

Release dates and playable news
- Onimusha: Way of the Sword: PlayStation said the PS5 game was launching September 25 and that a demo was available that day. The recap estimated the demo at around 30 minutes.
- Rayman Legends Retold: The recap listed an October 1 PS5 launch and highlighted returning levels, a new realm, four new musical stages, and local couch co-op for up to four players.
- Silent Hill: Townfall: PlayStation gave September 24 as the release date and showed gameplay featuring Zoe and the CRTV device used to connect with Simon.
Upcoming releases and sequel news
- Phantom Blade Zero: The recap listed an October 29 PS5 release and said a dedicated State of Play was planned for later that summer.
- The Lost Wild: Great Ape Games’ survival-horror game was described as planned for PS5 in 2027.
- Until Dawn 2: Firesprite announced a standalone PS5 sequel with a new cast and setting, then described as arriving the following year.
What did PlayStation post on September 3?
The official State of Play page includes posts dated September 3, 2026, including announcements and updates tied to future releases. Square Enix announced Final Fantasy VII Revelation for PS5 on April 8, 2027; Firesprite announced Until Dawn 2 for January 28, 2027; and Polyphony Digital described a two-part Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV update, with its first part planned for October. These are dated posts on the official page, not confirmation of a State of Play taking place during the week of October 8.

The June recap and September feed show PS5 announcements across different genres and release windows. They do not identify the event behind the headline or validate its “14 new” count.
