It lets the PS VR2 headset and Sense controllers work with SteamVR on a compatible Windows gaming PC, but PC mode does not include every PS5 feature. Sony’s launch MSRP was $59.99 in the US, €59.99 in Europe and £49.99 in the UK; those are launch prices, not a guarantee of current local pricing or stock.
What the PS VR2 PC adapter does
The adapter, model CFI-ZVP1, connects a PS VR2 headset to a Windows PC so it can be used with SteamVR. Sony described the SteamVR library as containing thousands of games and cited Half-Life: Alyx, Fallout 4 VR and War Thunder as examples. A Steam listing alone does not mean a game supports VR, and supported titles can have different hardware requirements.
This is a PC access route to SteamVR, not a way to run PS5 games on Windows. PS VR2 games exclusive to PlayStation remain on PS5 unless their developers separately release PC versions. Sony’s announcement explains the launch and its intended SteamVR use.

- Simple Plug‑and‑Play Setup:This adapter uses the same IC module as the official version. No technical expertise or complicated steps are required – just follow the manual to connect the adapter to your PS VR2 and PC, perform a few simple software settings, and you are ready to enjoy VR with minimal setup effort.
- Stable Power Supply for Seamless Performance:The adapter delivers a regulated DC 5.1V output, guaranteeing a steady and reliable power source for PS VR2 when used with a PC. This stable power prevents device malfunctions, screen flickering, or performance degradation caused by insufficient or fluctuating voltage, ensuring uninterrupted and stable VR sessions.
- High‑Definition Transmission for Visual Immersion (Updated with 4K60Hz):Equipped with a DisplayPort (DP) interface, the adapter enables 4K resolution and 120Hz high‑refresh‑rate video transmission, fully leveraging the PS VR2’s display capabilities. The resulting visuals are crisp, vivid, and lifelike, greatly enhancing your sense of presence in virtual environments.
- Ultra‑Fast Response for Lag‑Free Interaction:Leveraging the USB 3.0 high‑speed interface, the adapter ensures rapid transmission of large data volumes. In VR applications, player inputs and sensor data from the headset and controllers are synchronized in real time, effectively reducing latency and delivering instant feedback – so every move feels natural and responsive.
The adapter package includes the PC adapter, AC adapter, AC power cord and user manual. It does not include the PS VR2 headset, Sense controllers or the required DisplayPort cable. Sony requires a separately purchased DisplayPort 1.4 cable. A Bluetooth adapter may also be an extra cost if the PC’s built-in Bluetooth does not work reliably with the controllers.
Steam, SteamVR and Sony’s PlayStation VR2 App are free to download; a Steam account is needed, and games are purchased separately where applicable. See the adapter product page for package details, and Sony’s PC support page for software links.
Check PC compatibility before buying
Sony’s listed minimum requirements apply to Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 64-bit. Meeting them does not guarantee smooth performance in every game; individual SteamVR titles may require more powerful hardware. Sony recommends an NVIDIA RTX 3060 or later or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT or later for best performance.

| Component | Sony’s minimum requirement |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 |
| Memory | 8 GB or more |
| NVIDIA graphics | GeForce GTX 1650 or later; Turing architecture or later is required |
| AMD graphics | Radeon RX 5500 XT or later, or RX 6500 XT or later |
| Video output | A dedicated DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort output supporting DisplayPort 1.4 |
| USB | A direct USB 3.0 connection |
| Bluetooth | Bluetooth 4.0 or later |
Two connections can rule out otherwise capable PCs. Sony says DisplayPort over USB-C is not supported, so a USB-C-only laptop or a dock-based setup may not work. Connect the DisplayPort cable directly to the graphics card’s compatible output, not an unsuitable motherboard output, hub or dock. Connect the adapter directly to USB 3.0 rather than through a hub or extension.

Set up the adapter and headset
Install the software and prepare
- Update the PC’s graphics drivers and confirm it has a direct DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort output supporting DisplayPort 1.4, plus a direct USB 3.0 port.
- Install Steam, SteamVR and the PlayStation VR2 App linked from Sony’s support page.
- Charge the Sense controllers and clear a safe area for standing or room-scale VR.
Connect the hardware
- Plug the PC adapter directly into the PC’s USB 3.0 Type-A port.
- Connect a DisplayPort 1.4 cable from the adapter to the PC’s DisplayPort output.
- Connect the supplied AC adapter and power cord to the PC adapter.
- Connect the PS VR2 headset to the adapter’s USB-C port, then turn on the headset.
- Open the PlayStation VR2 App and follow its setup instructions. The adapter’s status light is red when it has power but no headset is connected, and white when the headset is connected and active.
Pair the Sense controllers and set the play area
- Disconnect any USB cables from the controllers. On the left controller, hold PS and Create until its indicator flashes. On the right controller, hold PS and Options until its indicator flashes.
- In Windows Bluetooth settings, add each controller separately.
- Follow the app’s prompts to position the headset, adjust the lenses, scan the play area and calibrate floor height. Keep the area clear and use adequate lighting; avoid direct sunlight and reflective surfaces.
Sony’s PC setup instructions cover installation and pairing. The CFI-ZVP1 instruction manual provides the adapter’s official hardware guidance.

What works on PC—and what does not
PC mode retains the headset’s main display and core VR capabilities, but it is not feature-equivalent to PS5. Sony says the headset provides 2000 × 2040 pixels per eye and a 110-degree field of view in PC use.
| Feature | On PC with SteamVR |
|---|---|
| Headset display | Supported; 2000 × 2040 pixels per eye and 110-degree field of view, as Sony describes it |
| Finger-touch detection | Supported |
| See-through view | Supported |
| Controller vibration | Basic vibration supported |
| Foveated rendering | Available without eye tracking |
| 3D audio | Supported in compatible games through SteamVR audio, not PS5 Tempest 3D AudioTech |
| HDR output | Not supported |
| Eye tracking | Not supported |
| Headset feedback | Not supported |
| Adaptive triggers | Not supported |
| Advanced Sense controller haptics | Not supported; only basic vibration is available |
That distinction matters if you primarily play PS VR2 on PS5: the adapter adds SteamVR access, but does not carry over HDR, eye tracking, headset feedback, adaptive triggers or the more advanced controller haptics. Sony details the PC feature set and lists unsupported functions in its support documentation.

Bluetooth: the main setup wildcard
Bluetooth 4.0 or later is the baseline, but Sony warns that some adapters may not work. Sony’s compatibility page lists devices tested on July 20, 2024: TP-Link UB500, ASUS USB-BT500, Buffalo BSBT5D205BK and IO-DATA USB-BT50LE. Compatibility is not guaranteed, and Sony recommends current manufacturer drivers. The list is not a requirement to buy an external adapter if the PC’s built-in Bluetooth works.

- If using an external Bluetooth adapter, disable the PC’s built-in Bluetooth to avoid conflicts.
- Where possible, plug the adapter into USB 2.0 and keep it away from USB 3.0 ports. A short USB 2.0 extension can improve line of sight to the controllers.
- Install the adapter maker’s current driver, reduce nearby Bluetooth interference and try 5 GHz Wi-Fi if wireless congestion is suspected.

No image in the headset
- Confirm the cable supports DisplayPort 1.4 and is connected directly to the discrete graphics card’s DisplayPort output.
- Check that the adapter is connected directly to USB 3.0, the PC graphics drivers are current, and the headset and adapter indicators show power and connection.
- If SteamVR does not show the headset correctly, open SteamVR > Settings > Developer and enable Direct Mode.
Controllers fail to pair or tracking is unreliable
- Disconnect controller USB cables, charge both controllers, and repeat the PS-button pairing sequence.
- Try the Bluetooth placement and driver steps above. Remove stale controller or Bluetooth entries in Windows Device Manager if pairing remains stuck.
- For tracking issues, check for Bluetooth interference or obstructions between the controllers and receiver, improve room lighting, and review the play area for reflective surfaces or direct sunlight.
Performance is poor
- Check the game’s own system requirements and verify the PC is using its dedicated GPU.
- Lower SteamVR Render Resolution or turn off Motion Smoothing.
- Update the graphics driver; if the issue began after an update, consider rolling back to the previous driver.
Sony’s support page covers connection and performance troubleshooting, while its Bluetooth guidance addresses controller connectivity.
Who should use the adapter?
It makes sense for existing PS VR2 owners
If you already own the headset and controllers, have a compatible gaming PC, and want SteamVR titles such as Half-Life: Alyx, the adapter is a relatively low-cost way to add another library. Your incremental cost is the adapter at the local price, a DisplayPort 1.4 cable, and possibly Bluetooth hardware; SteamVR is free, while games may cost extra.

It is a weaker choice for a PC-only buyer
Buying the headset, controllers and adapter from scratch costs substantially more than adding the adapter to a system you already own. It is also a poor fit if your PC lacks a direct compatible DisplayPort output, you need wireless VR, or you expect full PS5 feature support on PC. A native PC VR headset may better suit those needs; compare current models and prices locally, since no particular alternative’s price or availability is established here.
Keep PS5 in the picture
For a household already using both PS5 and PC, PS VR2 can serve both ecosystems. Use PS5 when HDR, eye tracking, adaptive triggers or fuller haptic features matter; use the adapter for compatible SteamVR games. The PC connection does not make PS5-exclusive games portable to Windows.
