Discord announced Video Quests on Mobile on March 20, 2025, describing a June pilot for its first mobile advertising format. That pilot is no longer the current status: Discord said on October 2, 2025, that Video Quests on Mobile were available. The product extends Discord’s opt-in, reward-based Quests system to mobile users rather than introducing unavoidable ads before messages, calls or server activity.
What Discord announced—and what changed
The March 20, 2025 announcement positioned Video Quests on Mobile as a way to show trailers, major announcements, premium entertainment, downloadable-content launches and mobile-game promotions inside Discord’s Quest experience. Discord initially expected a pilot in June 2025. Read the original announcement.
On October 2, 2025, Discord said the mobile format had launched and could provide cross-platform video reach across its mobile and PC experiences. That update also introduced Arena Quests in limited alpha and announced measurement partnerships with AppsFlyer and Gamesight. See the launch and measurement announcement.
How a mobile Video Quest works
- A user sees a Quest or Quest bar in the Discord app.
- The user chooses whether to accept it; Discord’s support documentation shows an Accept Quest control in the mobile flow.
- The user watches the campaign video or completes the specified activity.
- Discord verifies the requirement.
- The user receives the campaign’s stated reward, if eligible.
The exact interface, eligibility rules and reward differ by campaign, account, region and platform. Discord describes Quests as rewarded advertising, and its Quests FAQ is the current reference for user-facing controls.

Rewards can include game items, avatar decorations, Discord Orbs or Nitro-related benefits. An individual mobile Quest does not necessarily offer Nitro, and rewards do not have a fixed cash value. Orbs can be redeemed for eligible Shop items, subject to Discord’s rollout and eligibility rules.
Video Quests versus other Quest formats

Unlike a conventional banner, interstitial or forced pre-roll, a Video Quest is presented as an activity the user can accept or ignore. It is still advertising: the reward is designed to motivate attention and engagement, so “opt-in” does not mean “non-commercial” or “ad-free.”
Why mobile matters to game advertisers
Discord said its audience exceeded 200 million monthly active users and that users spent a combined 1.9 billion hours playing games each month across thousands of PC titles. Those are company-reported figures, not independently audited audience measurements. Mobile delivery gives publishers a way to reach people who use Discord primarily on phones, while cross-platform campaigns can connect mobile exposure with Discord’s established PC gaming communities.

The format suits a game trailer, new season, expansion, major content update, downloadable content or mobile-game acquisition push. Discord has cited campaigns involving Diablo, Street Fighter, Genshin Impact, World of Warcraft, The First Descendant and Max’s Dune: Prophecy.

The available figures are Discord case studies, client examples or internal company data. They indicate the metrics Discord chooses to highlight, not guaranteed results for a future campaign.

- Discord said a Genshin Impact Play Quest attracted millions of participants and delivered an 80% increase in playtime during the Quest week.
- A Max Dune: Prophecy Video Quest used a 2-minute, 38-second trailer and recorded an 85% completion rate among users who interacted with the Quest, according to Discord.
- Discord said The First Descendant generated more than 1 million video completions, with 10% occurring organically through player sharing.
- In a 2024 update, Discord reported a 16% lift in average playtime and a 9% lift in average player counts for early Quest campaigns. Read that update.
- Discord later described a 30% performance lift for a Second Dinner mobile campaign using AppsFlyer and Discord’s mobile targeting and server-to-server measurement, compared with an earlier Quest.
- Discord’s advertising page claims a Second Dinner mobile Video Quest reached more than 8 million users and drove awareness and installs.
Completion and participation are not the same as profitable acquisition. Advertisers should separately evaluate exposure, video completion, store visits, installs, registration, purchases, retention and incremental lift.
Measurement: AppsFlyer for mobile, Gamesight for PC and console
AppsFlyer
Discord named AppsFlyer its first mobile measurement partner for Video Quests on Mobile. Depending on the implementation, an advertiser can connect campaign exposure with installs and in-app events. AppsFlyer’s current public plans list a free Zero tier, a Growth plan billed per conversion and custom Enterprise pricing; the page also describes a welcome allowance of 12,000 measured conversions for the first year. Pricing and included features can change, so confirm terms directly at AppsFlyer’s pricing page.

Gamesight
For PC and console advertisers with an existing Gamesight integration, Discord and Gamesight provide server-to-server measurement that can connect Quest engagement with installs, logins, purchases and other post-install events. Gamesight’s documentation says the Discord setup uses a referral key and touchpoints URL supplied to a Discord representative rather than ordinary click-tracking URLs. Access, pricing and buying workflow
Discord’s broader advertising terms refer to Ads Manager, budgets and spend controls, but the specific Video Quest product pages direct buyers to Get Started, Get in Touch or a business-development contact. Discord does not publish a universal public Video Quest rate card, so buyers should not assume fixed CPM, CPI or CPA pricing.
Start with Discord’s gaming advertising page or business-development contact form. Ask whether the proposed campaign is self-serve, sales-assisted or invite-based, what minimum spend or inventory limits apply, which regions and age groups are eligible, and whether the intended measurement partner is supported.
Questions to resolve before committing budget
- Is the objective awareness, installs, reactivation, purchases or retention?
- Is delivery mobile-only, cross-platform or split by device?
- What exactly counts as a completed Quest?
- Who supplies and funds the reward, and is it available in every target region?
- Which post-install events can be passed back, and how are duplicates or incentivised installs handled?
- Is a visible lift incremental, or simply correlated with exposure to the campaign?
- What happens if the game is unavailable on a user’s device or in their country?
Important user and campaign limitations
A Quest visible on desktop may require completion on mobile, or vice versa; visibility does not prove universal platform eligibility. Rewards can require verification, account linking, ownership or a waiting period. Campaign availability can also vary by age, account, geography and rollout.
For advertisers, rewarded engagement can favour people seeking the item rather than users likely to retain or pay in the game. Creative, reward design, targeting and event instrumentation therefore matter as much as the video itself. Discord’s advertising terms also require appropriate rights and consents and prohibit invalid or deceptive activity; review the current self-service advertising terms before launch.
What the announcement means
Discord’s mobile move is an expansion of an existing rewarded advertising model, not a wholesale shift to conventional intrusive mobile ads. Video Quests extend Discord’s game-discovery and branded-video proposition to phone users, while AppsFlyer and Gamesight integrations try to connect rewarded engagement with measurable installs and downstream events. The commercial opportunity is real, but access, pricing, inventory and campaign results remain dependent on Discord’s sales process, the reward and creative, audience eligibility and the quality of the advertiser’s measurement setup.
