Sony’s September 19, 2024 PlayStation 30th Anniversary announcement confirmed a retro-themed, limited-edition PS5 Pro bundle—not the existence of PS5 Pro itself. Sony had officially announced the console nine days earlier, on September 10. The anniversary bundle was announced with 12,300 units and a November 21, 2024 release date.

What was included in the anniversary PS5 Pro bundle?
Sony described the bundle as a 2TB PS5 Pro console with a 30th Anniversary design. It also included matching DualSense and DualSense Edge wireless controllers, a DualSense Charging Station, a console cover for a separately sold disc drive, a vertical stand, and small collector items. The console was disc-less; the separately sold PS5 Disc Drive could be added.
The anniversary collection marked 30 years since the original PlayStation’s December 3, 1994 launch, according to Sony’s announcement. The bundle’s retro treatment connected that milestone to the current console hardware.
How did the limited edition differ from the standard PS5 Pro?

What did Sony claim about PS5 Pro performance?
In its September 10 announcement, Sony said PS5 Pro had 67% more GPU Compute Units and 28% faster memory than the then-current PS5, and could render up to 45% faster. These are Sony’s comparisons and claims, not independent benchmark results.
Sony highlighted an upgraded GPU, advanced ray tracing, and PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. It qualified the enhanced features: they apply to select games enhanced for PS5 Pro, and their availability and implementation vary by game. The anniversary announcement added a themed bundle; it did not establish different performance specifications for that edition.

What was the original price and launch timing?
Sony announced a U.S. MSRP of $699.99 for standard PS5 Pro and a November 7, 2024 launch. The console was announced with a 2TB SSD, a DualSense controller, and no disc drive; Sony said it supported a separately purchased PS5 Disc Drive. That MSRP is the original announced price, not a current price quote. Sony said the anniversary collection would release November 21, 2024. Its launch-day post later said PS5 Pro was available through PlayStation and participating retailers, but that historical statement does not establish present-day stock.
