PoE Overlay is a third-party Windows companion for Path of Exile 1 that can compare item listings, show price estimates, search trades, and provide other in-game tools. Choose its Overwolf build only if you want Replay; the standalone build updates automatically without Overwolf. Neither the app nor its estimates are endorsed or guaranteed by Grinding Gear Games (GGG).
PoE Overlay vs. PoE Overlay II: Which app do you need?
PoE Overlay is for the original Path of Exile, often called PoE 1. PoE Overlay II is a separate app for Path of Exile 2. Check the game name on the developer’s PoE 1 download page before installing so you do not select the companion for the wrong game.

The developer, Kyusung Interactive Co., Ltd., describes PoE Overlay as independent from both GGG and Overwolf. Overwolf distributes one version and provides overlay infrastructure; it does not make the app’s product decisions. The vendor says more than one million players have used the app since 2020, a company-reported figure rather than an independently verified count. See the About page.
What PoE Overlay does
The app combines price checking with trade searches, campaign guidance, stash values, and community features. Its main use is to bring item details and comparable trade results into a quick workflow, rather than requiring you to manually copy every modifier into a search.

The download page lists version 2.66.0, released October 3, 2026. That release added notifications for a disabled overlay, disabled auto-launch, and required game restarts in the Overwolf version; changed zoom settings to display the actual scale from 50% to 300%; and fixed several app, pricing, session, and stash-tracker issues. Version information can change, so check the download page for the current release.
Do I need Overwolf to use PoE Overlay?
No. The PoE 1 app has two Windows installation options. Both update automatically, but Replay is only in the Overwolf build.

Choose standalone if you want the companion without the Overwolf platform and do not need Replay. Choose Overwolf if Replay matters to you. The vendor says neither edition supports Linux, Steam Deck, or macOS; cloud gaming services also do not support the overlays because the app must run on the same machine as the game.
How do I price check an item in Path of Exile?
- Launch Path of Exile and PoE Overlay on a supported Windows PC.
- Hover over the item you want to evaluate and press the app’s configured hotkey to open Evaluate.
- Review the item details and the stats the app has preselected. Refine the stats if needed before comparing listings.
- Compare relevant trade results with the item’s rolls and modifier combination in mind; do not treat a single result as a guaranteed sale price.

Are PoE Overlay prices accurate?
There are two kinds of price output, and they should not be read as the same thing. The developer says Currency Exchange prices and trade results come from the official Path of Exile trade market. For other items, PoE Overlay uses machine-learning models trained on real sales to produce estimates. Those estimates are not guaranteed sale prices, and they are not official market quotes.

Even comparable listings can be difficult to interpret. Modifier rolls, combinations, demand, and timing can change what buyers are willing to pay. Use the tool to narrow a search and speed up comparisons, then judge whether listings truly match your item.

Is PoE Overlay allowed by GGG?
PoE Overlay is a third-party tool, and GGG does not guarantee that third-party tools are allowed or that their status will remain unchanged. Its Terms of Use restrict, without prior written approval, actions including modifying the game client or its data, using bots, connecting to servers through unauthorized software, and using data-gathering or extraction tools. Those rules are not blanket approval for every overlay, and the available information does not establish individual GGG approval of PoE Overlay.
In an official forum response dated August 4, 2024, GGG staff member BrittanyA_GGG wrote: “I would recommend refraining from creating or using any program that automates gameplay or does more than one action with a keystroke or mouse click.” Treat that as staff guidance on automation, not as an individual approval or a guarantee about the app’s future status. Avoid using any feature in a way that automates gameplay or bundles multiple actions into one input.

Account linking and paid options
The vendor says account linking uses OAuth through the official Path of Exile website: users do not enter their password into PoE Overlay, can view the permissions requested, and the app has no account write access. This describes the vendor’s account of its OAuth implementation; review the permissions shown during linking before authorizing access.
The app offers free access supported by optional lightweight ads, plus optional Premium. The developer lists recurring monthly and yearly subscriptions and a non-renewing 60-Day League Pass; one Premium plan covers both PoE Overlay apps. Prices use regional pricing, so the vendor directs users to check the app for the current local currency and amount rather than giving one universal price.
