If you have Pokémon in Bank, you can move them to Pokémon HOME before then—but the transfer is one-way, and HOME Premium is required. You can make the account-linked transfer without a 3DS; that route moves everything in Bank at once.
How Pokémon Bank and Pokémon HOME differ
Bank is the 3DS-era storage service used in the transfer route to HOME. HOME is the destination for Pokémon moved through that route, but it is not a universal pass-through to every game: whether a Pokémon can enter a particular title depends on that title’s compatibility.

| Role in this transfer | Source of Pokémon moving to HOME | Destination; Pokémon moved from Bank cannot be sent back |
| Device needed to move Pokémon | A 3DS lets you choose Boxes; the account-linked route works without one and moves all Pokémon at once, according to Pokémon Support | Used to start the transfer and, with a 3DS, display the Moving Key |
| Paid plan needed for Bank transfer | Not stated as a separate Bank requirement in the cited transfer guide | Paid HOME Premium Plan required; Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required, according to Pokémon Support |
| Published shutdown deadline | February 26, 2027, at 03:00 UTC, per Pokémon Support’s August 18, 2026 notice | No end date stated in that notice |
What to know before transferring
- The move is irreversible: Pokémon transferred from Bank to HOME cannot be returned to Bank. Pokémon Support confirms the one-way direction in its Bank-to-HOME FAQ.
- Premium is required: You need a paid Pokémon HOME Premium Plan to transfer from Bank. A paid Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Pokémon Support’s cited guidance does not establish a current local Premium price, so check the price and billing terms shown in your own store before subscribing.
- The no-3DS route moves everything: If you choose the account-linked option without a 3DS, the documented flow transfers all Pokémon in Bank at once. Use the 3DS method if you need to select which Boxes move.
- Bank’s announced deadline is specific: Pokémon Support says Bank service and Bank-to-HOME transfers will end at 03:00 UTC on February 26, 2027. The time is UTC, not a local-time promise.
Transfer Pokémon with or without a 3DS
Using a 3DS to choose Boxes
- On the 3DS, open Pokémon Bank and choose Move Pokémon to Pokémon HOME.
- Select the Boxes you want to move.
- In Pokémon HOME, start the move and display the Moving Key.
- Enter that key in Bank within three minutes. Pokémon Support says you can then choose how to deposit the arriving Pokémon into HOME Boxes.
The Moving Key is temporary: it expires after three minutes. The official steps are in Pokémon Support’s transfer guide.
Without a 3DS
- Link the Nintendo Network ID used with Bank to the Nintendo Account associated with HOME.
- In HOME, select the option to move Pokémon without a 3DS.
- Confirm the linked Nintendo Network ID and proceed only if you are ready to move every Pokémon currently in Bank.
Pokémon Support says Nintendo Accounts and Nintendo Network IDs can be set up at no cost. This account-linked route does not let you select individual Pokémon or Boxes: it moves all Pokémon in Bank at once.

Which games can receive Pokémon from HOME?
HOME compatibility depends on the destination game, so moving a Pokémon into HOME does not guarantee that it can then be moved into every other title. Pokémon Support’s Nintendo Switch connection guide lists Pokémon Sword, Pokémon Shield, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!, and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! as games that connect with the Switch version of HOME. The guide says Pokémon that cannot be moved to a selected game are marked in the interface.
That list is not a complete compatibility matrix for every game or species. For a particular Pokémon and destination, check the HOME interface and the current official game-connection guidance before attempting the move.

What happens if HOME Premium expires?
If your account has more than 30 Pokémon and Premium expires, HOME’s Basic access makes only the 30 most recently deposited or traded Pokémon accessible in the Basic Box. Pokémon outside that box remain stored for a period Pokémon Support does not specify, but while on Basic you cannot view or withdraw them. Re-enrolling in Premium restores access to their information and lets you move them out. This is an access limit, not an announced immediate deletion of the other Pokémon.
See Pokémon Support’s Premium-expiration FAQ for the plan-change details.
