Pokémon Champions Regulation M-C Doubles Tier List: Tournament Teams Worth Building

By VGSources Team 10 min read

There is no single objectively best six-Pokémon team in Pokémon Champions doubles. For the current Regulation M-C season, the strongest evidence points to several tournament-proven shells rather than one automatic answer. Mega Garchomp Z, Mega Charizard Y, Mega Salamence and Mega Golisopod all appear in recent high-finishing teams, while Rillaboom, Sneasler, Incineroar, Mega Salamence and Kingambit are the most visible ladder staples in the available September usage report.

This tier list is checked against Regulation M-C as of October 13, 2026. It separates complete-team tournament results from component usage, because a Pokémon appearing on many ladder teams is not the same thing as a team winning the most matches.

What “best” means in this Regulation M-C doubles tier list

Pokémon Champions doubles uses two active Pokémon per side, but you bring a roster of six. Ranked, Casual and Private modes all support Single and Double formats. In Ranked doubles, the useful question is not “which six Pokémon are strongest in isolation?” It is “which documented team plan fits my preparation time, matchup goals and comfort level?”

The list below uses two separate evidence axes:

  • Complete-team evidence: the best recorded finish for the exact six-Pokémon roster in a named tournament.
  • Metagame context: reported ladder appearance rates for individual Pokémon in a separate September 2026 Regulation M-C dataset. These are usage figures, not win percentages.

The archive of replica teams was updated October 8, 2026 and includes teams from accomplished players and important tournaments. The ladder figures come from PokeTools’ report of 1,631,943 doubles battles. A Pokémon Zone analysis, updated October 12, 2026, uses tournament match records, a minimum of 16 players per event and a 6% team-use threshold; its tiers are based on the lower bound of a 90% Wilson confidence interval. Those systems answer different questions and should not be merged into one invented score.

The official Pokémon Champions gameplay page says, “New regulations for Ranked Battles will be set every few seasons to mix up the competition and keep Trainers on their toes.” Treat this as a season-specific guide, not a permanent ranking.

Regulation M-C rules you must check before copying a team

Regulation M-C is scheduled to run from September 9, 2026 at 02:00 UTC through December 2, 2026 at 01:59 UTC. The season can change before you finish building, so use the in-game rules screen immediately before entering Ranked Battles.

  • Only Pokémon on the current eligible list may participate. The linked official list was not available in the rendered notice used for this article, so do not assume that every species mentioned in an older team code remains legal.
  • A Pokémon can Mega Evolve only when holding a Mega Stone, and Mega Evolution is limited to once per battle.
  • Duplicate held items are prohibited.
  • The listed timers are 20 minutes total battle time, 7 minutes of player time, 45 seconds per turn and 90 seconds for team preview.
  • The official notice newly allows Mega Absol Z, Mega Salamence, Mega Garchomp Z, Mega Lucario Z, Mega Golisopod and Mega Baxcalibur.

To verify legality, open Ranked Battles → the relevant format → Check Rules in game, then compare every species, form, Mega Stone and held item against the live rules. This article does not claim to have exhaustively validated the entire eligible roster.

Tier list: documented Regulation M-C doubles teams

These tiers describe how useful each documented team is as a starting point for a player choosing a ranked or tournament roster. “S” means the exact six has a championship-level result and a clear reason to study it first. “A” means the roster has a major final, top-four or championship result and is a credible alternative when its matchup profile suits you. The labels are editorial prioritization, not an official game ranking.

The team codes and finishes above are documented by Victory Road. They are not independently tested recommendations, and a tournament result does not guarantee the same record on your ladder. Import a code only after confirming that its species, forms, items and regulation legality still match the current in-game rules.

S-tier team profiles

Eric Rios’s Mega Garchomp Z regional-winning roster

Mega Garchomp Z / Mega Raichu Y / Incineroar / Gholdengo / Volcarona / Rillaboom won the Frankfurt Regional on September 26. It is the clearest first team to study if you want a championship-winning example that includes both a newly highlighted Mega option and two of the most recognizable support presences in the current environment.

The roster’s emphasis is a broad offensive-and-support six rather than a single Pokémon-only concept. Mega Garchomp Z is the headline Mega, while Incineroar, Gholdengo, Volcarona and Rillaboom give the team multiple distinct matchup pieces. Mega Raichu Y adds another Mega option in the six, but the once-per-battle rule means you must decide which Mega matters in each game. The archive does not provide a moveset or battle log here, so do not infer exact speed control, damage calculations or lead patterns from the roster alone.

Kiran Singh’s double-Mega regional champion

Mega Charizard Y / Mega Garchomp Z / Venusaur / Archaludon / Pelipper / Grimmsnarl won the Brisbane Regional on September 26. The six demonstrates why team selection cannot be reduced to ladder popularity: it combines two Mega choices with weather-associated Pokémon and defensive or disruptive support, yet the available evidence does not establish one mandatory lead or a guaranteed matchup plan.

Study this team if you want to compare Mega Charizard Y-centered construction with the Mega Garchomp Z emphasis of the Frankfurt champion. Because Mega Evolution is once per battle, the value of having both options is the ability to choose a game plan during preview, not to use both Megas in one battle.

A-tier team profiles and when to study them

Ryan Loseto’s Kickoff Cup champion

Mega Salamence / Rillaboom / Sneasler / Hisuian Arcanine / Kingambit / Basculegion won the Regulation M-C Kickoff Cup on September 9. This is the strongest documented example for players who want Mega Salamence as the roster’s central Mega and who prefer a six featuring several of the most frequently seen ladder components.

Its result is especially useful early in a season because it was achieved at the launch of this regulation. That does not make it automatically superior weeks later; opponents have had time to adapt, and the season ends on December 2.

Aditya Subramanian’s Baltimore finalist

Mega Charizard Y / Mega Golisopod / Farigiraf / Archaludon / Politoed / Grimmsnarl reached the Baltimore Regional final on September 22. It is the documented choice for examining Mega Golisopod, which the official M-C notice newly allows, alongside Mega Charizard Y and a second weather-associated Pokémon.

Use this six as a comparison point against Kiran Singh’s Charizard team rather than assuming that every Charizard roster plays the same way. The two rosters share Mega Charizard Y but differ in their other Mega, support and coverage choices.

Yvar Vlieger’s Frankfurt top-four team

Mega Charizard Y / Mega Meowstic F / Kommo-o / Kingambit / Sneasler / Indeedee reached the Frankfurt Regional top four on September 26. The lineup gives Charizard Y a very different surrounding cast from the Brisbane champion, making it useful for players comparing support structures and preview decisions without changing the headline Mega.

Eden Batchelor’s Frankfurt top-four team

Mega Dragonite / Mega Floette / Incineroar / Gholdengo / Sneasler / Rillaboom also reached the Frankfurt Regional top four on September 26. It is the best documented example in this set for a Mega Dragonite-centered roster and another illustration that successful teams can use different Mega identities while sharing only a few common components.

Which Pokémon are most common on the Regulation M-C ladder?

PokeTools’ September 2026 report covers 1,631,943 doubles battles and gives the following team-appearance rates. The percentages are the share of teams containing each Pokémon in that report; they are not win rates, usage from an official Pokémon Company publication, or proof that a full six built around the Pokémon is best.

Pokémon Reported share of Regulation M-C doubles teams Source label
Rillaboom 46.6% PokeTools, 2026
Sneasler 37.1% PokeTools, 2026
Incineroar 31.7% PokeTools, 2026
Mega Salamence 28.1% PokeTools, 2026
Kingambit 25.3% PokeTools, 2026

Rillaboom’s 46.6% is the highest reported share, but popularity can reflect convenience, availability, team fit or adaptation to common threats. It does not establish that Rillaboom teams win 46.6% of games. Pokémon Zone’s separate October 12 analysis covers 257 Pokémon across 354 tournaments and estimates tournament match performance with its own sample rules; do not treat those results as interchangeable with PokeTools ladder usage.

How to choose the best team for your own ranked doubles run

Choose a documented six when you need a tested starting point

Start with one of the six complete rosters above if you want a coherent team immediately. The two S-tier examples are the most defensible first imports because each won a Regional on September 26. Choose the Mega Garchomp Z roster if you want to study that Mega alongside Rillaboom, Incineroar, Gholdengo and Volcarona. Choose the Mega Charizard Y and Mega Garchomp Z roster if you want two headline Mega options and a different support package.

Choose by Mega identity when your practice time is limited

A once-per-battle Mega decision changes team preview. If Mega Salamence is the Pokémon you understand best, Ryan Loseto’s champion roster is the most direct documented model. If you prefer Mega Charizard Y, compare Kiran Singh, Aditya Subramanian and Yvar Vlieger rather than copying the first Charizard list you see; their surrounding five Pokémon are substantially different.

Use ladder usage to anticipate opponents, not to declare a winner

Prepare answers for Rillaboom, Sneasler, Incineroar, Mega Salamence and Kingambit because they are prominent in the reported ladder sample. That preparation can mean damage calculations, speed benchmarks, positioning practice or identifying which of your six handles each matchup. It does not mean you must place all five on your own team.

Keep the roster legal and reproducible

  1. Open the current Ranked Battles rules screen and confirm every species and form.
  2. Check that exactly one intended Mega Stone is available for each Pokémon you may Mega Evolve and that you will use no duplicate held item.
  3. Enter the team code from the documented archive, if using one, then inspect the imported roster rather than assuming the code is unchanged.
  4. Record your intended four-Pokémon selections for common preview patterns, while remembering that those selections are your own testing plan, not a result established by the roster list.
  5. Recheck the regulation date and rules after any season update before using the same six in Ranked play.

Building and adjusting a team in Pokémon Champions

Nintendo says you can customize moves, Abilities, Nature and stat points. Recruits may be obtained through Pokémon HOME, daily random recruitment and Victory Points. The official gameplay information says VP can be earned and used to recruit and train Pokémon and cannot be purchased directly.

Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Perfect Order Elite Trainer Box
  • The Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Perfect Order Elite Trainer Box includes 9 Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Perfect Order booster packs, 1 full-art foil promo card featuring Tyrunt, and 65 card sleeves.
  • This also comes with 40 Pokémon TCG Energy cards, a player’s guide to the Mega Evolution—Perfect Order expansion, and 6 damage-counter dice.
  • You will also receive a competition-legal coin-flip die, a plastic coin, and a collector’s box to hold everything, with 6 dividers to keep it organized.
  • And you will also find a code card for Pokémon Trading Card Game Live.

That means a copied team may still require in-game recruitment and training before it is ready. Treat the archive code as a roster blueprint, then verify that the version you build has the same forms, held items and intended customizations. Avoid claiming that every recruit or training resource is immediately available without those in-game requirements.

Timer management and preview discipline

The 90-second preview and 45-second turn timer reward preparation. Before queueing, know which Mega you are most likely to use into common opposing cores, which two Pokémon you want to lead, and which two you are comfortable bringing from the back. The 7-minute player-time limit also punishes repeatedly recalculating a familiar matchup.

Practice your choices with the actual six you intend to use. A team that looks flexible on paper can become difficult if every preview creates four equally plausible leads. Conversely, a roster with one obvious plan may be easier to pilot but easier for opponents to read. The documented results establish that multiple constructions can succeed; they do not establish that one preview pattern is universally correct.

Common mistakes when reading a doubles tier list

  • Calling usage a win rate: the 46.6%, 37.1%, 31.7%, 28.1% and 25.3% figures are team-appearance shares in PokeTools’ reported dataset.
  • Assuming a champion’s six is permanently legal: Regulation M-C ends on December 2, 2026 at 01:59 UTC, and future regulations can change the eligible list.
  • Using both Megas in one battle: you may bring several Mega-capable Pokémon, but Mega Evolution itself is limited to once per battle.
  • Duplicating held items: duplicate held items are banned under the listed rules.
  • Inferring movesets from species alone: the archive examples establish rosters and results, not every move, Ability, Nature, stat spread or lead sequence.
  • Copying a code without checking the import: compare the resulting team with the documented six and the current in-game rules before entering Ranked play.
  • Expecting the same tournament result: the archive provides successful examples, not a guarantee of ladder performance or a matchup advantage against every opponent.

Platform and availability notes

Pokémon Champions is described by Nintendo as free-to-start, and the official game site says mobile players can battle Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 users. A Nintendo Switch 2 is an optional hardware route, not a requirement for applying the team-selection advice here.

The practical competitive requirement is a legal, trained Regulation M-C roster and enough practice to make preview and Mega decisions within the season’s timers. Recheck the live rules before committing resources, especially near the December 2 end date.

The Bottom Line

For a first Regulation M-C doubles team, begin with one of the documented Regional-winning rosters, then choose between Mega Garchomp Z, Mega Charizard Y and Mega Salamence according to the plan you can practice. Use the PokeTools usage leaders to prepare for opponents, not as proof of a guaranteed best team, and verify the live in-game rules before every ranked run.
