Crown Clash: Taken Over was a Team GO Rocket event that ran May 14–18, 2025, local time. It has ended: the free Special Research stopped being claimable on June 3, 2025, at 9:59 a.m. local time, and the paid Timed Research expired May 18 at 11:59 p.m. local time. This guide records the event’s tasks and features; neither research offer is available now.
What happened during Crown Clash: Taken Over?
Team GO Rocket appearances increased at PokéStops and in balloons. During the event, a Charged TM could remove Frustration from a Shadow Pokémon. Shadow Pokémon caught in one-star and three-star Shadow Raids had a wider possible range for Attack, Defense, and HP. The official Pokémon GO announcement identified Shadow Dialga as Giovanni’s target.

Guide-listed task rewards include Hyper Potions, Ultra Balls, and Max Revives. The stage reward encounter is Pawniard. The official event announcement identifies the boss target as Shadow Dialga.
Stage 5 of 5
Claim the three rewards to complete the final stage. The guides report 6,000 XP and 5,000 Stardust in total. They disagree about the remaining reward: Pokémon GO Hub lists three Charge TMs, while Serebii lists three Fast TMs; Leek Duck’s available text gives the quantity but not the item type. The TM type is therefore not established consistently.

Why might the Special Research not have appeared?
Pokémon GO Hub says a common reason was having unfinished Team GO Rocket Special Research in the Special Research tab. The official announcement confirms when Crown Clash research unlocked and its claim deadline, but does not document this troubleshooting explanation.
