When was the Dynamax Entei Max Battle Weekend?
Niantic scheduled the event from Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 6:00 a.m. through Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 9:00 p.m. local time. It introduced Dynamax Entei to five-star Max Battles. What bonuses and rewards did the event offer?
Niantic announced these limited-time Max Particle bonuses for the weekend:
- The Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600.
- The adventuring distance needed to collect Max Particles was reduced to one quarter of the usual distance. Trainers first had to collect all Max Particles available in the Nearby menu to benefit; Niantic noted that Adventure Sync could help count distance.
- Power Spots refreshed more often and awarded eight times their normal Max Particle amount.
Earlier Max Move discount
A separate bonus cut the Max Particle cost to unlock or power up Max Moves by three quarters. It ran from April 21 at 6:00 a.m. through April 27 at 9:00 p.m. local time, 2025. Niantic’s 2025 event announcement

Timed Research and Web Store offer
Free Timed Research began April 21 at 6:00 a.m. local time. It offered an encounter with Dynamax Sobble, Sobble Candy, Max Particles and other items. Tasks had to be completed and rewards claimed by April 27 at 9:00 p.m. local time; the research has expired, and its rewards are no longer claimable.
Niantic also advertised a Pokémon GO Web Store Ultra Box for US$9.99 or local equivalent, containing one Max Mushroom and seven Max Particle Packs. That was a historical offer; the announcement does not establish that it is currently available. Niantic’s event announcement

How do Max Battles work?
Max Battles take place at select Power Spots and require Max Particles. You need at least one Dynamax Pokémon to enter, and only Dynamax Pokémon can be used during the battle. The official Pokémon GO guide puts it plainly: “Only Dynamax Pokémon can be used in Max Battles, so be sure to complete the ‘To the Max!’ Special Research to catch your first few Dynamax Pokémon!” Pokémon GO’s Max Pokémon guide
- Find a Power Spot and join. Spend Max Particles to enter. The particles are used only after you defeat the boss.
- Build the Max meter. Tap to attack; attacks charge energy and fill the meter.
- Dodge and collect energy. Swipe when the boss targets your Pokémon. Move to energy icons on the battlefield to fill the meter faster.
- Use the Dynamax window. When the meter is full, your Pokémon Dynamaxes for three turns. Use its Max attack during that window.
- Support teammates if your team faints. Against a three-star or higher boss, if all your Pokémon faint, you can cheer to fill teammates’ Max meters faster.
After a win, you receive rewards and a chance to catch the boss. A caught Max Pokémon returns to its standard form in storage, but can Dynamax again in eligible situations. What Pokémon should you use against Dynamax Entei?
Entei is a pure Fire-type Pokémon, so Water-, Rock- and Ground-type attackers are the relevant type-based choices. A Pokémon GO Hub guide published August 20, 2025, names Gigantamax Inteleon, Gigantamax Kingler and Dynamax Inteleon among its recommended attackers, and also discusses defender and healer/support roles. Choose for damage, survival and team support
- Max-phase damage: Consider the strength of the Pokémon’s Max attack when choosing your attacker.
- Survivability: A strong attacker is less useful if it cannot withstand Entei’s attacks long enough to contribute.
- Team utility: Max Spirit provides healing, while Max Guard reduces damage from the boss. Those moves can support allies as well as help your own Pokémon last longer.
If you do not have the named attackers, use your best eligible Water-, Rock- or Ground-type Dynamax Pokémon and coordinate with nearby Trainers. That is general type-matchup guidance, not a promise that a particular team or group size will win.
