Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

Build a team around your strongest Pokémon with attacks of those types, and check the current official raid schedule to see whether Giratina—and which forme—is appearing.
What is Giratina weak to in Pokémon GO?
Both Altered and Origin Forme Giratina share Ghost/Dragon typing. Their five weaknesses are Ice, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, and Fairy. Prioritize Pokémon with a Fast Attack and a Charged Attack from one of those types; those moves receive a 20% same-type attack bonus, according to The Pokémon Company’s Origin Forme raid guide.
There is no single best six-Pokémon team for every account. Compare your available counters by their CP, overall stats, moves, and ability to stay in the fight against the boss’s attacks. A high-powered Pokémon with a useful super-effective move can be a more practical choice than a nominally ideal counter you have not powered up.
Which Pokémon should you use against Giratina?
The official Origin Forme guide gives examples across several of Giratina’s weaknesses. Treat these as options, not a universal damage ranking; choose the strongest attackers you have with suitable moves.

| Ice | Mamoswine | Powder Snow with Avalanche. |
These are examples from the guide; it does not establish that every listed Pokémon or move is available to every player, or that the examples form a fixed ranking. Fairy attacks also hit Giratina’s weakness, so a strong Fairy-type option can be useful if it fits your roster.
How can Party Power and Mega Evolution help?
- Party Power: It charges more quickly when more party members are in the raid. Activate it to boost your next Charged Attack.
- Mega Evolution: While a Mega-Evolved Pokémon is battling, it boosts participating Pokémon’s attacks of the same type. Coordinate a Mega whose type matches attacks your group is using.
These mechanics can improve a coordinated raid group, but they do not replace choosing counters with effective moves. The official guide describes the boosts and their conditions at its Origin Forme Giratina raid tips page.

What changes between Altered and Origin Forme?
Giratina appears in Altered and Origin Formes, and the forme available in raids depends on the event. The type weaknesses above apply to both because both share Ghost/Dragon typing. Specific move advice below concerns Origin Forme and should not be treated as a universal moveset recommendation for every forme or future game update.
The Pokémon Company’s October 14, 2024 guide describes the featured raid Pokémon as Origin Forme and says it remains in that forme after capture. The official Pokémon GO team documented Altered Forme in five-star raids from September 23 through October 17, 2019, in its September 20, 2019 announcement. An official 2026 event page listed both formes in that event’s raid pool, illustrating that appearances can vary by event.

Is Giratina in raids now?
Availability changes with the raid rotation, so a past event listing cannot establish whether Giratina is currently in raids. The official Road of Legends 2026 event page listed Altered and Origin Forme Giratina in its five-star raid pool for July 6–10, 2026. Those dates have passed; the listing is not evidence of current availability, and the page notes that upcoming events are subject to change.
