Niantic Campfire is the safest supported option as of September 30, 2026. Pokémon GO’s official Map View connects to Campfire for finding raids, scheduling Meetups and lighting Trainer Flares. For wild-Pokémon sightings and deeper map layers, PokéMap.net, PogoMap.info, PogoAlerts and regional services such as NYCPokeMap are still reachable, but their usefulness depends on local contributors and coverage.

Niantic Campfire: the official baseline
Niantic’s Help Center describes Map View as the window into the Pokémon GO world and identifies Campfire controls for viewing Raids, scheduling Meetups and lighting a Flare. The Campfire app also supports sharing raid locations in direct messages and group chats.
Choose Campfire when you want the option least likely to disappear because it is tied to Niantic’s own ecosystem. It is particularly useful for coordinating a raid, finding a community event or signaling that Trainers are gathering at a location.
What Campfire does not promise
Campfire should not be treated as a complete wild-Pokémon scanner. The official descriptions cover raids, Meetups, Flares and social coordination; they do not describe a database that reveals every wild spawn around you. If your goal is a specific wild Pokémon, you need a community tracker and should expect uneven local coverage.

PokéMap.net for crowdsourced sightings
PokéMap.net presents an interactive Pokémon GO map with controls to add or search for Pokémon and to display PokéStops and Gyms. Users can contribute sightings, so it can be useful as a lead generator when enough players report activity in your area.
The page displayed 3,020,880 trainers at crawl time in 2026. That figure describes the service’s displayed community count, not the number of active contributors near you and not the accuracy of any individual marker.
Use a PokéMap marker as a prompt to verify the location in-game or through another local source. A quiet neighborhood may look empty simply because few people submit reports there.
PogoMap.info for persistent map layers
PogoMap.info documents layers for PokéStops, Gyms, raids, research tasks, nests, alerts and routes. It says its data is crowdsourced, that users can vote on locations and that users can add missing locations. The service also states that it does not use third-party APIs.

Those layers make PogoMap.info useful for understanding the structure of an area and checking community-maintained points of interest. They should not be read as a guarantee that a Pokémon, raid or task is active at the exact moment you open the map. Persistent map information and live spawn information are different things.
PogoAlerts for maps and notifications
PogoAlerts lists a Live Map, Map Data Collection, Discord Alerts and its Website as operational. Its public status page showed 100.00% uptime over the displayed 90-day period in 2026 for each of those components.
That uptime figure tells you the service was reachable; it is not an independent audit of marker accuracy or city coverage. PogoAlerts is the better fit when you want monitoring or Discord notifications, provided the service is collecting data in your neighborhood.
How to validate local coverage
- Open the live map while you are in the area you care about.
- Look for recent activity rather than relying on a map that only shows static points.
- Check whether several nearby locations have reports, not just one isolated marker.
- Confirm an important raid or sighting in Pokémon GO before making a trip.
Regional trackers: useful only where they operate
NYCPokeMap demonstrates the value of city-specific services. Its New York City raid map offers filters for raid tiers, team color, weather boosts and EX eligibility. The page says it relies on donations and advertising to cover operating costs.

That example does not establish equivalent coverage elsewhere. To find a regional tracker, search for one named for your city and inspect the map directly. Recent raids or sightings in the neighborhoods you play are a stronger signal than a site merely loading successfully.

Choose Campfire for supported coordination
Use Campfire when your priority is an official route to raids, Meetups and Flares, or when you want to share a raid through Niantic’s own social features.
Choose a crowdsourced map for wild-Pokémon leads
PokéMap.net is the clearest fit for user-submitted spawn reports. Treat every report as time-sensitive and location-dependent.
Choose layered maps for local planning
PogoMap.info is useful when you need several categories of map information—such as Gyms, PokéStops, nests or routes—in one view rather than a single live alert stream.

Choose alerts when timing matters
PogoAlerts suits players who want a live-map workflow and Discord notifications, assuming it has active collection in their area.
Choose a regional map when density is high
A city tracker can outperform a global service in a heavily covered metro area. Verify that it actually lists current activity where you play; do not infer coverage from another city’s success.

No single accuracy answer applies to every city. Compare each service on four separate questions:
- Status: Is it Niantic’s supported tool or a community service?
- Data type: Does it show raids and Meetups, persistent points of interest, crowdsourced sightings or alerts?
- Geography: Are players actively contributing in your neighborhood?
- Freshness: Does the marker represent a current event, or a location that may remain on the map after conditions change?
A reachable website, a large user count or a strong uptime record cannot establish that every marker is current. The safest routine is to use a tracker to narrow your search, then confirm the target in Pokémon GO or with another current local report.

What replaced PokéVision and the old scanners?
There is no single universal replacement that combines official support, complete wild-spawn visibility and reliable coverage everywhere. Campfire fills the supported raid-and-community role. PokéMap.net and similar services provide crowdsourced wild-sighting leads, while PogoMap.info emphasizes map layers and PogoAlerts emphasizes monitoring. Which one feels like a replacement depends on the job you need done and the contributors active near you.
Third-party trackers and account safety
The service pages described here do not establish current Pokémon GO Terms-of-Service approval for third-party trackers. Do not present any scanner as sanctioned on that basis. Treat third-party maps as community services, use your own judgment about location sharing, and avoid giving a map service credentials it does not need.
Where Pokémon GO Plus + fits
Pokémon GO Plus + is an official physical accessory documented by Pokémon Support. It can handle catching and PokéStop spinning while you play, but it is not a map tracker and does not replace Campfire or a sightings map. Retail availability and pricing should be checked separately at the time you buy.
