Pokémon GO Hub’s September 2026 guide recommends a group of 3–5 high-level Trainers, but the number can rise if your team lacks strong counters. The raid encounter is a regular Aggron—not Mega Aggron.
What to use against Mega Aggron
Build around Pokémon that can use strong Fire, Fighting or Ground attacks. A Pokémon’s listed ranking is useful only if you have it and can field the recommended moves; a practical team of available, well-powered attackers is preferable to chasing a theoretical top counter.

When choosing between options, consider whether you have the Pokémon and moves, how much damage it can deal, and whether it can stay in the fight for your group.

How many Trainers do you need?
Pokémon GO Hub recommends 3–5 high-level Trainers, with more if the group does not have optimal counters. Treat that as a guide estimate rather than a guarantee: Trainer level, Pokémon strength, moves and how effectively the party exploits the boss’s weaknesses all affect the practical difficulty.
What CP is the Aggron encounter?
Winning the Mega raid gives you a chance to catch a regular Aggron. Pokémon GO Hub lists these encounter ranges:

Use Mega Evolution to support the raid party
An eligible Mega-Evolved Pokémon can give the raid party an attack boost while it is on the battlefield; attacks matching that Mega Pokémon’s type receive a further boost. Multiple Mega boosts do not stack. You can Mega Evolve an eligible Pokémon from the raid lobby. See the Pokémon GO Help Center’s Mega Evolution guidance for the official mechanics.

Is Mega Aggron in raids right now?
As of October 8, 2026, Pokémon GO Hub’s October calendar lists Mega Blastoise for October 7–13, not Mega Aggron. That calendar is a third-party schedule, and event appearances can alter the rotation. Check the in-game raid list for your local time and location before planning a group. Mega Aggron did appear in the September 5–6 Pokémon GO Fest: Mega Finale offerings, according to the official event and Mega Evolution update; that recent appearance does not establish current availability.
Standard Mega Raids and Super Mega Raids
Pokémon GO’s 2026 update distinguishes standard Mega Raids from Super Mega Raids. The official announcement describes the latter as raids against exceptionally powerful Mega-Evolved Pokémon, with enraged bosses and shields; each Trainer can break one shield. It also says standard Mega Raids can be entered remotely with a Remote Raid Pass. These are general game mechanics, not evidence that a particular Mega Aggron appearance is a Super Mega Raid. The Pokémon GO team describes the new format as: “Super Mega Raids are a brand-new type of Mega Raid in Pokémon GO where you band together with fellow Trainers to take on exceptionally powerful Mega-Evolved Pokémon.” Read the official 2026 Mega Evolution update for details.

Mega Energy for Aggron
Pokémon GO Hub’s guide reports that the first Mega Evolution costs 200 Mega Energy, while later Evolutions of the same Pokémon cost 40; it also reports a free Evolution after the cooldown. The guide says Mega Aggron raids award Mega Energy and that, after Mega Aggron is registered in the Mega Pokédex, walking Aron, Lairon or Aggron can earn energy.
