Pokémon GO’s Oranguru and Passimian Research Day ran on September 22, 2024, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. local time. Players spun PokéStop Photo Discs for event Field Research and completed tasks to encounter Oranguru or Passimian. Shiny Passimian debuted during the event, and both featured Pokémon had increased shiny encounter chances. The event and its optional ticket have ended.
How the Research Day worked
During the three-hour event, spinning PokéStop Photo Discs could award themed Field Research. Completing those tasks led to encounters with Oranguru or Passimian. The official announcement described increased shiny chances for both featured Pokémon but did not publish a numeric rate. It also announced Shiny Passimian’s first appearance in Pokémon GO. The encounter rewards had the same shiny chance as the event’s Field Research encounters; neither the official announcement nor the archived listings give a numeric rate.
