September 2024 marked the start of Pokémon GO’s Max Out season, with Galar-themed events, Dynamax battles, and a Community Day featuring Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta. The month’s announced schedule also included a Raid Day on September 8 and a Research Day on September 22. These events have passed; this guide records what was announced at the time.
September 2024 event calendar
Niantic’s seasonal schedule identified three special event dates in September. Its September announcements also included several longer events and feature rollouts tied to the Max Out season. Dates below refer to the announced schedule, not events available now.

The official seasonal notice gives the dates for Raid Day, Community Day, and Research Day, while the Pokémon GO news archive provides a dated index of September announcements. The archive is not a complete event calendar with each event’s live hours, so the announcement dates should not be mistaken for confirmed start dates.
What happened at Ponyta Community Day?
Featured Pokémon and timing
Saturday, September 14, 2024, was Community Day for Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta. Both appeared more frequently in the wild from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time, and shiny encounters were possible.

Wild Charge evolution bonus
Evolving Ponyta into Rapidash or Galarian Ponyta into Galarian Rapidash during the event or within five hours after it ended gave the evolved Pokémon the Charged Attack Wild Charge. In the event announcement, Wild Charge was listed at 100 power in Trainer Battles and 90 power in Gyms and raids; those are the values published for the 2024 event, not a statement of current move balance.
Research, trading, and raids
- An optional Special Research ticket was offered for US$1 or the local equivalent.
- From 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time, trainers could make one additional Special Trade, for a maximum of two for the day, and trades cost 50% less Stardust.
- From 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time, Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta appeared in four-star raids. Winning a raid caused additional event Pokémon to appear near that Gym for 30 minutes.
- Only Raid Passes and Premium Battle Passes could be used for these raids; Remote Raid Passes were not accepted.
The event also included themed Field Research, PokéStop Showcases, and local Community Ambassador events. The official announcement listed a historical Web Store Ultra Community Day Box for US$4.99 or local equivalent, containing 10 Ultra Balls, one Elite Charged TM, and one Special Research ticket. It was due to appear in the store on September 9, ahead of the in-game ticket availability; this was a time-limited 2024 offer, not a current purchase option.

What was confirmed about raids and Spotlight Hours?
The seasonal announcement confirms a Raid Day on September 8, but the official material cited here does not establish its boss lineup. Exact raid-boss rotations and the full September Spotlight Hour schedule—including featured Pokémon and bonuses—are likewise not confirmed by the official sources listed here. A contemporary third-party calendar reported weekly rotations, but without the corresponding original official posts those details should not be treated as verified. For historical specifics, consult the relevant archived event announcement rather than relying on a reconstructed monthly rotation list.

September began the Max Out season, which put the Galar region in focus. The month’s official announcements covered GO All Out, Dynamax and Max Battles, Psychic Spectacular, Legendary Heroes, and additional seasonal updates. Niantic also cautioned that upcoming events were subject to change, so the calendar is best read as the schedule announced at the time, not as proof that every detail remained unchanged in play.
