Pokémon GO’s documented free Necrozma Fusion Energy giveaway was part of GO Fest 2024—not an offer confirmed to be active on October 8, 2026. Eligible players who signed up for and checked in to Campfire meetup events could receive a code for 100 Solar and 100 Lunar Fusion Energy; participating stores also handed out a limited number of codes to in-person participants. Niantic’s announcement does not establish that those codes can still be redeemed or that a new giveaway is underway.
What the free-energy offer included
Niantic tied the code promotion to GO Fest 2024 celebration events. The meetup route required both signing up for the event through Campfire and checking in. The separate store route involved attending and taking part at a participating location, where codes were available in limited quantities. The meetup package contained 100 Solar Fusion Energy and 100 Lunar Fusion Energy.
Energy redeemed through a code appeared on Necrozma’s summary page, not in the Trainer’s general item inventory.
Is a Necrozma Fusion Energy code active now?
The official promotion announcement documents the 2024 offer, but does not say that its codes remain redeemable today. The official event notices cited here also do not confirm a new giveaway for October 2026. Treat claims that an old code still works—or that a current code is available—as unverified unless Niantic announces it through an official Pokémon GO channel.

What Solar and Lunar Fusion Energy are used for
The two energy types are not interchangeable. Solar Fusion Energy is used to fuse Necrozma with Solgaleo into Dusk Mane Necrozma; Lunar Fusion Energy is used to fuse it with Lunala into Dawn Wings Necrozma. Niantic’s stated cost for either fusion is 1,000 matching Fusion Energy, 30 Necrozma Candy, and 30 Cosmog Candy.
The 2024 meetup package therefore supplied 100 of each type—one tenth of the energy requirement for either corresponding fusion. It did not, by itself, provide enough energy to complete a fusion.

Historical raid event, not a current giveaway
Niantic also announced a Necrozma Fusion Raid Day for December 14, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. It offered up to five additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs. That was a time-limited 2024 event, separate from the meetup and store code promotion; it does not establish a current free-energy offer.

After paying the stated energy and Candy costs, Necrozma remains fused until the Trainer separates it. Niantic’s fusion announcement says separating the Pokémon does not cost Fusion Energy or Pokémon Candy. Fusion Energy is specific to the matching form, so check whether you want Dusk Mane or Dawn Wings before spending it.
