Pokémon HOME is the current destination and hub for supported newer games; Pokémon Bank is the source for Pokémon stored in Nintendo 3DS-family games. If you want to move Pokémon from Bank into HOME, you need HOME Premium, and the move is one-way. Pokémon Bank service, including Bank-to-HOME transfers, is scheduled to end on February 26, 2027, at 03:00 UTC. If you want Pokémon in Bank to reach HOME, transfer them before that deadline.
Pokémon HOME vs. Pokémon Bank: what each service does
| Question | Pokémon HOME | Pokémon Bank |
|---|---|---|
| Role | Current destination and hub for Pokémon moved from Bank and for connections with supported newer games. | Stores Pokémon associated with Nintendo 3DS-family games and acts as the source for transfers to HOME. |
| Transfer direction | Receives Pokémon from Bank; Pokémon can also be moved between HOME and compatible games as supported. | Can send Pokémon to HOME. A transfer to HOME cannot be reversed back into Bank. |
| Requirement for a Bank transfer | The paid HOME Premium Plan is required to receive a Bank transfer. | The Nintendo Network ID used with Bank must be associated with the Nintendo Account linked to HOME for the no-3DS all-at-once method; the 3DS method uses a transfer code. |
| Service availability | Supported on Nintendo Switch 2 as well as the supported HOME apps. | Service, including Bank-to-HOME transfers, is scheduled to end February 26, 2027, at 03:00 UTC. |
For a Bank-to-HOME move, the decision is not which service to use instead of the other: Bank holds the Pokémon you want to bring over, and HOME is where they go. Nintendo Switch Online is not required for the described HOME game connections. See Pokémon Support’s transfer guide for the service requirements and methods.

Can you transfer Pokémon from Bank to HOME without a 3DS?
Yes. Pokémon Support describes a linked-account method that transfers all Pokémon stored in Bank at once. You do not need to have a 3DS available for this route, but the Nintendo Network ID used with Bank must be associated with the Nintendo Account linked to HOME. Check the account association before starting; this method is not a way to select only a few Pokémon.
Use a 3DS if you want to select boxes
If you have access to a 3DS, Bank lets you select boxes to transfer. HOME generates a transfer code, which you enter in Bank. The code is valid for three minutes, so have Bank ready before requesting it and enter it promptly. Follow the current on-screen prompts in both apps; see the official step-by-step transfer instructions.

What to check before confirming a transfer
- Choose carefully: Pokémon moved from Bank to HOME cannot be sent back to Bank. Review your selection before confirming. The Pokémon Support FAQ describes the transfer as one-way.
- Confirm the right accounts: For the no-3DS method, check that Bank’s Nintendo Network ID is associated with the Nintendo Account linked to HOME.
- Check game compatibility Pokémon by Pokémon: A Pokémon in HOME is not automatically eligible for every connected game. Use HOME to check which games support that individual Pokémon before planning to move it into a particular title; Pokémon Support explains this in its compatibility guide.
- Use the same console for a game connection: To connect HOME with a game such as Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet, the relevant game save data must be on the same console where HOME is launched. HOME supports Nintendo Switch 2; see Pokémon Support’s Nintendo Switch 2 guidance.
- Link the intended account before opening mobile HOME: The mobile and Switch apps access the same boxes when linked to the same Nintendo Account. Pokémon Support warns that if you start the mobile app without linking the Nintendo Account intended for the Switch version, that mobile account cannot later be linked to the intended account. Review Pokémon HOME account and compatibility guidance before setting up the apps.
Why the Bank deadline changes the decision
Pokémon Support’s Spanish-language notice dated August 18, 2026, says Pokémon Bank service ends February 26, 2027, at 03:00 UTC. After service ends, transferring Pokémon from Bank to HOME will no longer be possible. If keeping Pokémon currently stored in Bank matters to you, complete the move before that time rather than waiting until the final day. The deadline is stated in UTC, so check the local equivalent for your time zone.
