Pokémon Legends: Z-A launched on October 16, 2025, so this is now a buying guide rather than an active pre-order guide. Nintendo’s US regular prices are $59.99 for the Nintendo Switch edition and $69.99 for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The launch-era Ralts and Poké Ball offers have expired; physical extras were limited to particular regions and retailers.
Which editions are available, and what do they cost?
Nintendo’s official US listings give these regular prices. They are not a guarantee of current prices or stock at any particular retailer.
| Edition or product | What it includes or requires | Official price and availability context |
|---|---|---|
| Pokémon Legends: Z-A for Nintendo Switch | The base game for original Nintendo Switch hardware. | $59.99 US regular price, listed by Nintendo. |
| Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition | The game with enhanced resolution, improved performance and smoother frame rates, according to Nintendo. | $69.99 US regular price, listed by Nintendo. |
| Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack | For owners of the Switch edition who want the Switch 2 enhancements; the base game is required. | Nintendo’s Japan product page lists ¥1,000. That is a Japan price, not a US price. |
| Nintendo Switch 2 + game bundle | A Switch 2 system and a digital copy of the Switch 2 Edition. | Nintendo announced a US launch bundle at $499.99. The announcement does not establish current availability. |
For the official US edition listings, see Nintendo’s product page and its Switch 2 Edition details. Nintendo’s Japan page provides the Upgrade Pack information.
Which version should you choose?
Choose the Switch edition if you play on the original Switch
The $59.99 US edition is the version for original Switch hardware. If you later move to Switch 2, Nintendo provides a paid Upgrade Pack for owners who want the enhanced edition; the original game is not described as unusable on Switch 2.

Choose the Switch 2 Edition for its enhancements
The Switch 2 edition costs $10 more at Nintendo’s US regular prices. Nintendo identifies the differences as improved performance, enhanced resolution and smoother frame rates. Those are the stated enhancements; the listings do not provide a quantified performance comparison.
If you already own the Switch game
You do not need to buy the full Switch 2 Edition to access its enhancements: Nintendo offers the Upgrade Pack, which requires the Switch version. The ¥1,000 price shown on Nintendo’s Japanese page should not be treated as the US price.

Is Mega Dimension included with the game?
No. Mega Dimension is paid downloadable content, not another base-game edition. Nintendo says it works with both the original Switch and Switch 2 editions. Holo-X and Holo-Y apparel became available on October 16, 2025; the additional story content, including Mega Stones for Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y, became available on December 9, 2025. Nintendo’s product search listing shows a $29.99 US regular price for the DLC bundle; check the live Nintendo listing for its current price.
See Nintendo’s Mega Dimension information for compatibility and content details.
Where can you buy the game now?
The Pokémon US page marks both editions “Available Now” and directs buyers to Nintendo eShop, My Nintendo Store and participating retailers. That status confirms post-launch sale channels, not a particular retailer’s current inventory, price or bonus offer. Check the seller’s current listing before buying, especially if you are looking for a physical extra.
