The regular Nintendo Switch 2 Edition does not include Mega Dimension. You can buy the Switch game, the Switch 2 Edition, or—if you already own the Switch game—add the Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack. Mega Dimension is a separate purchase for either base game. A physical Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension bundle is announced for October 29, 2026; it puts both on one game card.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A editions and purchase routes

These are the options to compare. The Switch 2 bundle’s announced release date is still in the future as of October 4, 2026. Prices and availability vary by region, so check local Nintendo and retailer listings.

Purchase route What you get Important distinction
Nintendo Switch base game The base game, in physical or digital form. It is the standard Switch version. You can later buy the Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack. Nintendo Support and Pokémon’s official site
Nintendo Switch 2 Edition The base game as the Switch 2 Edition. Nintendo lists Mega Dimension separately. On Switch 2, Nintendo describes improved performance, enhanced resolution, and smoother frame rates. The edition also plays on the original Switch, but there it has the same content as the Switch software and no Switch 2-specific features. Switch game + Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack Your Switch base game plus the upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition. You must also have access to the base game on the Switch 2 system, as a physical game card or virtual game card. Owners of physical or digital Switch software can upgrade. Nintendo Support
Mega Dimension DLC Additional story content, Mega Stones for Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y, and Holo-X and Holo-Y apparel items. Sold separately; compatible with the Switch and Switch 2 Edition base games. A base game is required. Nintendo Support; Nintendo of America DLC listing
Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension physical bundle The Switch 2 Edition and Mega Dimension DLC on one game card. Announced for October 29, 2026. Pokémon says its content is the same as buying the Switch 2 Edition and Mega Dimension separately. The bundle also has a 100 Ultra Ball serial-code bonus. What changes on Switch 2?

The Switch 2 Edition is the version with the stated performance, resolution, and frame-rate enhancements when played on Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo’s product description says it “features improved performance, enhanced resolution, and smoother frame rates.” On an original Switch, it does not gain those Switch 2-specific features; its content matches the Switch software. Nintendo of America; Pokémon Australia

What the Switch 2 bundle bonus includes

The physical Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension bundle has a 100 Ultra Ball serial-code bonus. Nintendo of America says the code is in an insert in the physical version. Pokémon says the code can be used once and gives no expiration date; online service conditions may affect redemption. This is separate from the older 100 Poké Ball offer for digital early purchases. Pokémon UK; Nintendo of America

Which version should you choose?

  • You play on Switch 2 and want the enhancements: choose the Switch 2 Edition, or the announced physical bundle if you also want Mega Dimension on the same card.
  • You already own the Switch game: the Upgrade Pack adds the Switch 2 Edition, but you still need the base game available on your Switch 2 system.
  • You want Mega Dimension: buy it separately for a compatible base game, or choose the announced bundle that packages it with the Switch 2 Edition.
  • You play only on the original Switch: the Switch 2 Edition does not add Switch 2-specific features on that console.
  • You prefer physical media: the announced bundle puts both the Switch 2 Edition and DLC on one game card.

There is no stable price comparison established across regions here. Compare the local listings for the base game, upgrade, DLC, and bundle before purchasing.

Are the old early-purchase bonuses still available?

No. The Ralts holding Gardevoirite offer and the digital 100 Poké Ball offer both had a February 28, 2026 purchase deadline, which had passed by October 4, 2026. The 100 Poké Ball code was valid through March 10, 2026. These are not current incentives. The announced bundle’s 100 Ultra Ball code is a distinct bonus. Pokémon Australia
