GameStop’s bonus for the Pokémon Legends: Z-A midnight launch was a physical tote bag, offered to customers who preordered the game and attended a local GameStop midnight release while supplies lasted. The launch took place on October 16, 2025. As of October 2026, the tote offer is historical, and both of the official Pokémon bonuses tied to the game have passed their claim deadlines.
What GameStop gave midnight launch buyers
The retailer’s extra item was a tote bag. Contemporaneous coverage described it as a GameStop exclusive for preorder customers who attended the local midnight release, and TechRadar’s roundup said buyers of both the original Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 editions were eligible. GamesRadar described the same offer and its limited-supply condition. Neither outlet’s account was tied to a stated quantity, so the number of totes produced is not known.
The GameStop product page for the game did not list the tote. Its listed early-purchase items were the official Ralts and, for digital buyers, a Poké Ball code. That gap matters: the tote terms come from editorial coverage of the 2025 promotion, not from a retailer listing you can still check.
How online preorders were collected
TechRadar’s roundup gave the following practical advice for customers who had preordered online:

- Your journey will take you to all manner of sights in the streets arrayed around Prism Tower, including shops, restaurants, and places called wild zones—where Pokémon roam free.
- As you catch, train, and battle Pokémon, there will be plenty of people to meet too—like AZ, the enigmatic owner of Hotel Z.
- Preorder the game through GameStop before the launch window.
- Keep the preorder receipt.
- Bring the receipt to a GameStop store to collect the physical copy and the tote bag.
The advice tied in-store pickup and the gift to the receipt. Coverage did not describe a separate claim form or online redemption step for the tote.
How the GameStop tote differed from the official bonuses
Pokémon Legends: Z-A had two separate sets of early-purchase rewards. The retailer’s tote was one. The official rewards from The Pokémon Company International were in-game and digital, so they worked differently from a store gift. The table compares all three on the points that matter for eligibility.

Eligibility by edition and format
The game was released on the original Nintendo Switch and on the Nintendo Switch 2 as a separate Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The official Ralts applied to both editions. Physical and digital copies were treated the same for the Ralts, but only digital purchasers received the 100 Poké Ball code.
The tote was described as available for Switch and Switch 2 buyers, but only in the context of the local midnight event and the preorder terms above. Buyers who purchased pre-owned copies were not covered by the offer. GameStop’s product page warns that pre-owned copies may not include additional content, so a used copy should not be assumed to carry any bonus.

Mystery Gift steps for the Ralts (historical)
The official Pokémon bonus page set out the steps for claiming the Ralts. These are preserved here for reference, since the claim window has closed:
- Connect the console to the internet and sign in to a Nintendo Account.
- Open Pokémon Legends: Z-A and select the Mystery Gift feature.
- Choose Get via Internet.
- Claim the Ralts before the window closed on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
The official page noted that reaching the Mystery Gift feature in-game took approximately one hour of play.

What to check if you are looking for an offer now
Every official bonus has expired, and the tote was never described as a standing promotion. If you are looking at a current retailer listing, check the store’s product page for included items instead of relying on 2025 coverage. Ask the store directly whether any launch-era merchandise remains. Coverage from 2025 does not establish whether any tote stock is left.
