The company officially confirmed the new Mega Evolution for Pokémon Legends: Z-A on August 20, 2025, so the leak’s central claim was later verified.
What the leak revealed
GamesRadar reported that a video description published ahead of its intended reveal included the line, “What truths about Mega Victreebel and its Trainer will spill out by the end?” The wording disclosed the Pokémon’s name before the video appeared. GamesRadar later updated its report to note that the leak proved real after the reveal: GamesRadar’s report on the early disclosure.
How the Pokémon Company confirmed it
On August 20, 2025, The Pokémon Company announced that Mega Victreebel appears in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Its official press release identifies the form as Victreebel’s Mega Evolution and gives its type as Grass/Poison: The Pokémon Company’s Mega Victreebel announcement.
Official profile details
- Type: Grass/Poison
- Height: 4.5 m (14 ft 9 in)
- Weight: 125.5 kg (276.7 lb)
These height and weight figures come from The Pokémon Company’s fictional character profile, not real-world measurements. The same profile says Mega Victreebel carries a large amount of acid, which it describes as capable of melting concrete or steel, and gives off a sweet scent. Those are descriptions of the Pokémon’s fictional traits, not claims about real chemistry.
What this means for players
Mega Evolution is a temporary transformation available to certain Pokémon. The official overview describes it as requiring a Trainer’s Key Stone and a Pokémon’s Mega Stone, which resonate when their bond is strong enough: The Pokémon Company’s Mega Evolution overview. That general explanation does not establish additional title-specific gameplay details for Mega Victreebel.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is available in Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 editions. Nintendo lists Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension as separate DLC, released December 10, 2025, and says the full game is required to use it: Nintendo’s game and DLC information. The leak and the official reveal establish Mega Victreebel’s presence in the base game; the cited announcement does not make the Mega Evolution a Mega Dimension exclusive.
