When did the Pokémon Legends: Z-A DLC come out?
Mega Dimension launched on December 10, 2025. The Pokémon Company International confirmed the date in its December 9, 2025 trailer announcement, and its December 10 launch announcement confirmed that the additional story was available. The official DLC page currently lists it as available now.

An earlier announcement gave an October 16, 2025 sale date for the DLC, with the story content to follow later. That initial schedule was superseded by the confirmed December 10 story launch.
What does Mega Dimension add?
The additional story takes place after the events of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Team MZ investigates spatial distortions appearing throughout Lumiose City, while Hoopa helps the player venture into hyperspace.

The launch announcement names Mega Raichu X, Mega Raichu Y, Mega Chimecho, and Mega Baxcalibur among the powerful Mega-Evolved Pokémon encountered in the DLC. Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y each require a different Mega Stone, according to the official DLC page.
Do you have to finish the main game first?
Yes, to progress through the DLC story. The additional story is set after the main story, and the official DLC page says players must complete the main story before they can advance through the DLC narrative. The September 2025 announcement also said the add-on uses the same save data as Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Do you need to buy the game again?
That depends on what you own. If you already own Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, you can buy Mega Dimension separately; you do not need the newly announced physical bundle. For someone who still needs both the game and DLC, The Pokémon Company announced a physical bundle containing the Switch 2 Edition and Mega Dimension on one game card, scheduled for October 29, 2026.
The company says the bundle contains the same game content as buying the Switch 2 Edition and DLC separately. It is a future release as of October 8, 2026; the announcement does not establish its price or current retailer stock.
