Pokémon’s Mega Stone and Ranked Battles explanation distinguishes these rank-promotion Mega Stones from battle rewards and season-end rewards. If a player already owned a particular Mega Stone, they could not receive a duplicate through Ranked Battles. Pokémon said the stones were planned to return in future seasons; that did not extend Season 3 or make its rewards available after it ended.
