Pokémon Legends: Z-A was being actively datamined before its scheduled October 16, 2025 launch, prompting spoiler-averse fans to warn others to be careful online. Tom Phillips reported on October 10 that early copies appeared to be circulating and that leaks included details about additional Mega Pokémon. The report is a snapshot of that pre-release moment; it does not establish whether new spoilers are circulating now.
What prompted the Pokémon Legends: Z-A spoiler warning?
In an IGN report republished by Yahoo Entertainment on October 10, 2025, news editor Tom Phillips said early copies appeared to be circulating and IGN had seen evidence that the game was being actively datamined. With the release then scheduled for October 16 on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, the report warned that players could encounter game-content spoilers online.
The headline’s “floodgates” phrasing describes the concern around leaks; it does not mean every detail of the game had become public.
Which Pokémon Legends: Z-A details were reported as leaking?
The October 10 report said datamined information included additional Mega Pokémon. It named Mega Dragonite, Mega Victreebel, Mega Hawlucha, and Mega Malamar among the Mega Evolutions being discussed. These are details Phillips reported at the time, not a verified inventory of current leaks.

The article also referred to post-launch Mega Evolutions for fully evolved starters and said the paid Mega Dimension DLC would add Mega Evolutions for Raichu. It situated the game in Kalos and described it as bringing a new group of Mega Pokémon to the franchise’s Mega Pokédex. The report did not establish a complete list of what players would find in the game.
How can you avoid Pokémon Legends: Z-A spoilers?
The advice described in the report was to be mindful of where you click or step away from social media if you want to play without seeing spoilers. It did not identify a universal spoiler filter or guarantee that either approach would prevent exposure.

Phillips’s article was published October 10, 2025, six days before the release date it reported: October 16, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Those dates explain why the warning appeared; they do not verify current leak activity, platform availability, or retailer listings.
